“Consensus” scoring, a recent topic, had it 6-6.
Re: WBSS Super-Lightweight Final: Josh Taylor vs. Regis Prograis - 26 October
I had it a draw, myself.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 Oct 2019, 10:49
Had the judge given Prograis the final round on his card, a round he clearly won, it would have been a majority draw..
How could that Judge give the 11th to Taylor? A strong round for Prograis. Very odd.
Re: WBSS Super-Lightweight Final: Josh Taylor vs. Regis Prograis - 26 October
To be fair, it seems from social media that a fair few did actually see it as a draw. But Regardless of that, what I know for certain is that nobody except for that judge thought Taylor won by 5 rounds! A draw was feasible, a 5 round swing wasnt.
Watch round 11. Tell me it isn’t clearly a dominant round from Prograis.

Re: WBSS Super-Lightweight Final: Josh Taylor vs. Regis Prograis - 26 October 2019
Smith and Froch were fvcking clueless as usual. Regis was maybe edging the early rounds but Josh was answering him every time albeit with slightly less effective work yet Smith had it down as a virtual masterclass from Regis. Then he didn’t notice how badly Regis was struggling with his breathing until blood was literally flowing out of his nose.
And once he’d got it in his tiny little head that Josh was on top he couldn’t see past it and when Regis rallied late on and boxed Josh’s head off in the 11th he had that round as too close to call.
How can you be ringside at so many fights and still not have a clue what’s going on ?

I had it a draw myself, i'd say from what ive seen most people had Taylor edging it but a fair amount have had it a draw as well, haven't seen too many give it to Prograis though, maybe a handful?liamlion wrote: ↑27 Oct 2019, 18:25To be fair, it seems from social media that a fair few did actually see it as a draw. Monumental win. Unfortunate that it doesn’t get so much attention. Barely a word about it at the barber’s shop, the working men’s clubs or the water cooler at work.

Yep, id agree with that and I have no problem with Taylor being awarded the decision. It was a close fight.handsofstone wrote: ↑28 Oct 2019, 04:36I had it a draw myself, i'd say from what ive seen most people had Taylor edging it but a fair amount have had it a draw as well, haven't seen too many give it to Prograis though, maybe a handful?liamlion wrote: ↑27 Oct 2019, 18:25

Probably said it in his head when he saw it, like how he used to commentate on fights as a kid. Taylor didn't offer him a bitter because it was no Barrera-Morales.
As for the fight, it went roughly as I imagined it would, with the exception that Prog has a better chin than I expected. Legit tough guy.

The best result I could give Prograis would be a draw. And I wouldn't have had an issue if the result had gone that way.
By the same token the worst result I could have given Taylor would have been the draw.
I am surprised that there's no robbery threads on here though. There usually is after a big fight

There's a wide consensus that it was tight, is all.
Best thing now is for Taylor to fight Ramirez, and if he wins that he can either rematch Prog before moving up, or Prog can fight Ramirez and then — if he also wins — move up and rematch Taylor. All roads lead to welter for at least two of them, but then the twin roadblocks of Crawford and Spence.

Consistently abysmal for years and has possibly got worse rather than better with experience.

Ian Darke and Glen Mccory were the best pair. Sky should throw money to get Darke back.

Did sky tell him to say that or something?

Don’t knock that gem of a line, that was comedic gold. I got a big laugh in a work meeting the following Monday by recreating it in my best Alan Partridge voiceRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑28 Oct 2019, 17:12That ‘bomber’ comment he made Manchester for Usyk-Bellew.. wtf was that??

Terrible luck British boxing fans to have a clown like that in charge - great commentators we’ve had in the past: Gutteridge Carpenter Ian dark, Jim Watt..top class and now we have to put up with that hapless buffoon Adam Smith hands down the worst ever.
And so thick, he makes sure that virtually everyone he hires to be part of the sky team are completely useless.

What card was their last gig together ?dr_devious wrote: ↑28 Oct 2019, 17:38Ian Darke is old school quality and is the successor of the olds greats Carpenter and Gutteridge. He is unlikely to be enough of a corporate stooge for the current set up.

Halling and Watt
Are you going to fill us in on which was Darke and McCrory's last fight that they commentated on together or are you going to ask more quiz questions which I have to look up on the internet?
