I will add it was a case once again of a promoter , putting his hard earned on the wrong horse , because , he was somehow convinced the main event he had would hit the big time , never relizing if he had to pay or handpick his wins he was backing the wrong horse , which he did , because this so called future star , never fought again after he got beat , , this is something we see all the time and i honestly cannot fathom it ,, for me a perfect example would be Conor Benn , why oh why a promoter would hand pick his fights like they do , really has me stumped , he ends up making good money , then gets beat and retires , and all along theres been better lads up and down the country who can't get a promoter behind them ,, Its always been there , it always will but not something i can understand ... Fight at your own level and if you got it you got it .
In this case it was a small time promoter , thinking he was gonna hit the big time with a small time boxer . who come unstuck , believing his own publicity .
The longer your involved,, the more you see , It certainly is a funny game,, By and large 80 % of boxing is pure fun , laughs , freindships , and great stories to tell when your round the table with like minded people , and everyone has similar stories to tell , cos heh its people were dealing with ,,, But there is that element who really give me the shits , and thats the ones out to make a dollar , out of somone elses pain , by mis matching , telling lies , and bullshit , and these same people they would'nt have the guts to put it on the line themselves
I love hearing about stuff like this. Yes people often pay too much attention to a fighters record and dismiss them as nobodies, when sometimes the fighter is playing the fall guy so he can get regular fights and earn a living. If they upset the applecart they risk being black balled.coneye wrote: ↑30 Oct 2019, 00:29Sorry no names from me , not on a internet forum ,, will say though it was'nt any big name fighters , it was a smaller town hall type show , no one you would recognise from 20 odd years ago .
