But its no secret Sky plough most of the sports money into football and that will always be the case.

Yes, this is true, but they have ALREADY spent the money on football this year, and still have enough money to spend on big time boxing shows, when they understood that there a definite interest.

It's not like someone at Sky went "Oh goody, we've got more money in the bank this month, now we've not got to pay the FA as the season's finished. what shall we spend it on? Yak Racing from Ulan Batur, The Innuit Olympics, or perhaps Kabbadi from Jaipur.....WAIT I'VE HAD A MAD IDEA, LET'S GET SOME INTERNATIONAL WORLD CLASS BOXING!"

I used to love their SUMO coverage, it was absolute class, the way they built the profiles on the characters was incredible, excellet production, excellent commentary, wish boxing packages were as well put together.

Chiyenofuji, Hoktenu, Tarao, Asahifuji, and that big fat dump truck bloke whose name eludes me.

Chiyenofuji was fornicating amazing, I remember when he picked up that massive Hawaiian who was 38 Stone and hoiked him out of the ring.

I cannot remember the scene this time last year, but I'm sure there are post here from guys who said they were going to stop getting tapes from stateside dealers cause Sky was showing most of the boxing.

I think Sky are banking on getting the drunken dregs who have just watched a World cup game and want to continue having a good night in.

Sky needed something to rival the world cup, they are banking on the Cricket and Boxing.... I'm glad they chose boxing over Croquet.

Well look at it this way. Sky football season is over, the world cup is on terrestrial TV. Skysports needs something and they have put some money into boxing. Lets hope it lasts, but Sky dont really care about punters at the end of the day.

The Wolf was hugely charismatic and an amazing athlete. I grew up watching him slap the 5hit of of much bigger foes, killing them with his icey stare before smashing them with explosive power.

He was relatively small but very powerfully built for a sumo guy. Defintly my favourite, by some considerable way.

I agree James, C4's coverage was excellent. I would still watch it today I reckon if a similar product was offered.

Is anyone even remotely interested in the Valuev fight, as a fightfan myself who stays up every Sunday morning to catch the fights on streams, I'm not even slightly interested in the Valuev fight.

I used Valuev in the topic title as to the best of my knowlege that fight was the latest addition to the SKY schedule when I posted the listing.

Hopkins, even on minimal mode, is a class above the overrated Tarver. Tarver's a glorified fu(c*kin amatuer

Some Yanks like him for his 'pull yourself up by the bootstrings' stereotype. Problem is, if you're that fu(*cking tough and that effing great, you don't go round blabber mouthing like an immature kid desperate for acceptance and massaging his own ego.

I don't want to ruffle any feathers here, or stereotype anyone. but i know from personal experience that a lot of ppl who've been hooked on drugs/booze come out of the experience totally selfish, self obsessed, with a completely blikered view of the world, the Big I Am, unable to see out of their own narrow sphere. Recovered cases, I mean. I personally can't friggin stand ppl who think they're it & have to keep telling you. Hopkins, give this joker abloody mouth on the way to winning 7 rds!

besides, splitting wins/losses with the only elite men he faced doesn't make him great

I'm rooting for both big Mouths to get well & truly shut up on Saturday, the other being Malingagnaaghi. if they both lose I will go to bed happy

I will be cheering on Hopkins as well. I do feel that this may be a real snooze of a fight with a very low punchrate with both fighters waiting for the other to make a mistake but I am still glad to be able to see it for myself. We may get lucky and one of them may be more aggressive than usual and take the lead (more likely to be Tarver) but I doubt it.

50/50 match IMO.
