Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev - 2 November 2019
Re: Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev - 2 November 2019
Canelo needed that stoppage. He was a couple of rounds down going into the 11.

Unexpected finish that. Fair play to Canelo, he needed that. The commentary banging on about the scoring....it doesn’t matter now!
Kov boxed well but he’s got a fair few miles on the clock thesedays.

Kov gassed quick over a round.
He was already wobbled, and the right hand finished it.

Do you reckon they’re frantically changing their scorecards to make it look like they had a Kov winning?

I had Kov ahead 97-93 not that it matters.

So Canelo was two rounds up on the scorecards....
I’d rather they didn’t inform us of that to be honest. Canelo won fair and square but, those cards...
He has definitely reached the ‘going to need a knockout just to draw against Canelo’ stage.
What next for him?

Fix was in.
Moretti just gave the last 3 to Kov to make scorecard seem less bias.
Surprised at Trella, he had it even. Respect..
Dan Rafael has Kov ahead by few rounds.

Had it even going into the 11th,
Kovalev tactics were odd. Maybe he broke his hand or something

That came from nowhere but he was completely broken by that first punch.bigjack wrote: ↑02 Nov 2019, 09:40I agree with all this,Canelo,I think will be a beast tonight and take anything Kov has to offer and come back with better.Datsue wrote: ↑02 Nov 2019, 06:14 Watched some bouts last night, Kov's lack of inside fighting ability (like, every fight ever) & tendency to get caught with rights over the top (Ward I & II, Alvarez I) once an opponent times his jab is gonna get him stopped IMO. Watching a shedload of Kovalev fights back to back you realise just how narrow his punch selection is—I watched like six fights & you could count on one hand the amount of uppercuts or proper left hooks he threw.
Kov's really good but only at one range. Jacobs IMO is faster/slicker (& not much smaller in reality) & couldn't keep Canelo on the end of stuff with enough regularity. He's gonna get outjabbed early but once Clenelo starts to time him & the legs start to lose their zip then I think Alvarez might break him inside, Golovkin took same insane bodyshots in the rematch & I can't see Sergey standing up to that late on.
Like Ezzard said upthread, you look at Kov's recent fights & you'd swear he'd get tired one-two'ing a heavy bag for twelve rounds.
I think the weight might help Clenelo's stamina, as well, I have this sneaking suspicion that draining like a motherfucker (which let's face it he's done his entire career) meant he was only able to fight a stretch of a round at a time. I actually think this might be a more "natural" weight for him.
Really hope I'm wrong, like but I think this is going one way.

Thank god he knocked him out. Would’ve been a meltdown on here otherwise.
Thought Canelo was incredibly patient and always edging closer, thought Sergey was as cute as he used to be but just not as hungry/tough.

I think the fact a couple of the recorder couldn't actually write their scores in the box says something.
How hard is it to put the number in the box?
