Canelo fought well imo but we saw that Kovalev was looking old and sluggish. Kova got a nice retirement paycheck. I'd like to see Canelo fighting Beterbiev in 2020. That would be the best fight for Canelo imo. Callum Smith or BJS are another two great fights for Canelo. :box:

Yeah, Canelo did a great job by doing what Kovalev should have done to secure a victory. Canelo activated himself late and timed perfect power punches. Credit for such composure, durability, patience and timing.

Canelo is too small for 175, maybe Bivol but Beterbiev would Krush him, he has way too much power.

Callum Smith at 168 is a dangerous fight but BJS wouldn't be that much bigger if at all but he could make it a stinker of a fight.

A certain section of hard-core anti-Canelo brigade will demand the Mexican face and defeat Artur Beterbiev in order for them to give him kudos, but if Alvarez did this, the same set of people would inevitably find a reason to undermine his feat and also move the goalposts.

They’d probably clamour for him to make the jump to cruiserweight to face Mairis Briedis and if Canelo was successful at that weight, they’d aggressively demand him to compete at heavyweight to face the winners of AJ-Ruiz and Wilder-Fury.

And even if he miraculously managed to beat all those guys, they’d still accuse him of ducking someone.

Yup. Canelo matured a lot and he's growing in experience with each fight.

Beterbiev is the man at 175 lbs to beat. He's 34 y/o and I think Canelo has enough finesse and skills to beat him. Also Canelo has very strong jaw and neck.

Callum is another one tricky pony but his long body can be chopped down by Canelo.

 Pipe down son! It's obvious that Canelo wants to build up his legacy. If he stayed at 160 lbs no one would say that he should move up to SMW, LHW or even CW. He did it by himself. :OhYes:

If he has taken this road and wants to prove something, why not to fight the best from 168 and 175 lbs? :TU:

Canelo will not fight Beterbiev. That is a bridge too far & he knows it. He didn't go up to 175 because he thought he was the best LHW in the world, he went up there because he knew Kovalev was washed up & he was ripe for the picking. That is the truth.

Canelo is a strong and skilful mfer - he’s not Mayweather but that’s a good thing. He’s pound for pound 1 after that performance. I’d like him to settle into his natural weight class - super middle. Some great fights can be made.

I don’t have much negative to say. We saw some flaws but they have always been apparent. I was surprised however by his late round strength which no doubt was the game plan.

How about Beterbiev fight Bivol and see if canelo fights the Winner, Beterbiev is as powerful as they come, but I don't see him as being this monster that no one wants to fight, Gvozdyk was winning the first part of the fight, but those powerful shots took their toll, Bivol like Gvozdyk will give him a good fight, Beterbiev is there to be hit, not that fast, YES HE IS ABSOLUTELY POWERFUL, but I don't see him as unbeatable, I don't think the top fighters will avoid him, he WILL BE tough to beat, I expect Bivol to be a close fight. I think Canelo would fight the winner even if it is Beterbiev.

Yes but I said I'd like to see this fight in 2020 if Canelo really wants to prove something big. It's obvious that Kovalev was chosen because of his name and because he was faded and already beaten. It was a calculated risk by Canelo.

If Canelo doesn't want to fight Beterbiev in 2020 then Callum Smith or even BJS would be great fights too. :OhYes: :box:

His counters are very sharp and powerful. Also his defence is top notch. His face was clean. He's gonna be a very tough fighter to really beat although 35y/o GGG did it in their first fight.

How about Canelo fight either, since he just hand-picked the weaker of the 3 for $35 million? Beterbiev works off timing, doesn't waste unnecessary movement - only took him a round to thwart Gvozdyk's speed. Completely different animal to Kovalev these days.

Yes. A positive way to look at it is that Golovkin performances, skills and toughness is boosted by how well Canelo performed getting the KO against a LHW.

I suspect that Canelo would probably wait that Beterbiev to get a little older and vulnerable but still undefeated and then may jump to the opportunity.

Beterbiev must look old and vulnerable to be on Canelo's radar. :D

Doubt his radar even picks that up. Got what he wanted here. Now he can drop that belt and go down as the LHW champ in Mexican lore.

Canelo will never fight Beterbiev. Beterbiev is accurate and has power in every punch he throws. He might hurt him badley.

Beterbiev would bust his ass up good. They'd give him every round on the cards before it happened, but it'd happen.
And that's fine. Unless he stays at light heavy and starts running his mouth about how he's the best 175 pounder in the world, I think people understand there's no need for him to fight Beterbiev.
You must be just about the only person anywhere who can't understand why Canelo annoys people.
