It was predictable. The last card is the best. I had Kovalev ahead 96-94.

Can’t believe Moretti gave Canelo the first 2 rounds.

I’m happy for Canelo, was a great finish, but would love to see more accurate scorecards for his fights.

Giving the first 2 rds to Canelo is so pathetic it makes me laugh out loud. So pathetic. He did NOTHING.

The media’s scoring of the fight appears to be in line with the official judges’ scorecards(i.e. Yahoo!, Boxing Scene, The RING etc.).

I think you could legitimately score it anywhere from 97-93 Kovalev, to 96-94 Canelo, with rounds 2, 4 and 5 being so close.

Having said that, I do have some issue with a couple of the individual round scores on the Moretti and Lederman cards. Round 1 or 9 to Canelo? Really?

Eye on the ring has fan scoring.
The vast majority had Kovalev winning.
Some had it a draw but only 3 out of over 30 had Canelo winning.

I guess Al Bernstein thinks throwing a thousand pitty-pat punches that bounce harmlessly off the opponents gloves must be ring generalship...because it sure ain’t clean punching or effective aggressiveness.

"Bounce harmlessly" ? Is that why Canelo had zero success in getting close to Kovalev in the first 8-9 rounds ?

Yes....

While Kovalev clearly threw many more punches.....

Canelo landed almost many and they were far more solid and clearly had a greater effect in the recipient.

Canelo landed close to nothing in the first 4 rounds and very little in the next 4.

Thought Kovalev was up on the cards from what I saw by a couple rounds.

Collective scores combined by a dozen or so users on our system had them tied by the 11th round.

Very good finish from Canelo when it came though. Out of nowhere really, but decisive!

According to CompuBox Canelo outlanded Kovalev by 3 punches over the first 4 rounds. Kovalev threw a lot of jabs, but very few of them landed and those who did were weak and barely touched Canelo.

Maybe, but I watched the fight and he landed a ridiculously low percentage of his punches.

He threw a lot of range finding weak jabs to canelos gloves. A lot

Canelo landed almost all the clean effective shots
