Again Oscar chooses the 'easier' option.

Fight Winky or Jermain ya bith..

Or Floyd at 147 and not 155 - 153-152-152!

Oscar knows he can not get hurt against Mayweather and he loses to both Winky and Jermain ( and Jermain is not that good)..

Neither is Winky.
But Winky beats all 3 of them, imo.

DLH only has a chance against 1 - PBF at 154!

152 and down, Floyd handles Oscar. He can easily come in at 150 and be ok. If Oscar makes the 154 limit, Floyd is fighting a middleweight.

Oscar will comfortably beat Floyd at 147 or 154, i have no doubts about the result of this fight at either weight!

I have to disagree, i would pick Mayweather to beat DLH at either weight, he has the speed and the talent, despite the fantastic Mayorga display i don't think Oscar has what it takes anymore to beat a fighter of his immense ability.

Who's the best all rounder Floyd Mayweather has beaten?

Has Floyd even beat a full fledge Welterweight yet?

DLH shouldn't be ruled out of this by any stretch.

Floyd can be clipped and shaken, and DLH can pour it on once he gets a sniff.

Floyd starts favourite, particularly at Welter or near welter....but DLH shouldn't be underestimated, I'd love him to solve the PBF riddle, though it would remove much of the lustre of a Hatton clash.

But Hatton has 25 other opponents to get through first...

Oscar has been walking around at 149, so don't think 147 is out of the question.

DLH just cannot do anything right in some peoples eyes.

He is not a middleweight as proven against Sturm & Hopkins.

Whats so bad about fighting Mayweather? Supposedly he's the best P4P fighter in the world.

Good post. I think it's worth noting the De La Hoya also started out at super-feather.

People think Oscar is picking on the little guy because Floyd is a smaller person...however, he's more skilled than 99.9% of the fighters Oscar has fought will ever be on their best night, so I don't see the big deal.

Either way, it's a win win no matter who wins...

Floyd wins, he beat one of the best in the last 20 years. Oscar loses to the #1 guy in the sport when he retired.

Oscar wins, he knocks off the best p4p in the world on his way out, and Floyd lost to a bigger man who is one of the best in the past 20 years.

This fight isn't going to hurt the reputation of either fighter, but it may show the size limitations of Mayweather.

Some people are too quick to criticise DLH that has always been the case.

But name me one fighter around today with a comparable resume.

Mayweather is the one saying he can go all the way up to light middle, so let him take his punk ass to 154 to fight De La Hoya.

Why should De La Hoya, years out of the welterweight divsion be forced to fight there ? He is the money man so it's going to be mostly his terms.
Although his walkaround weight says he wouldn't mind making it a catchweight fight.

Because Floyd at 154 brings to many asterisks to the win, and would take a little steam off it. It's a huge win if Oscar wins no matter what, but it leaves that sliver of doubt. I picture Oscar as someone who doesn'twanna go out like that.

I don't think anyone called either out, they both wanted the fight. Infact, Floyd bought out Arum so he could move further towards making this fight. Yes, Oscar is the money, but he is also in the running to signing Floyd to a promotional deal. He has to realize that after this fight, if he does lose and Floyd looks fantastic, he's got the a cash cow on his hands. I personally feel a catchweight at 150 or 151 would be the answer, but you can't win them all.

Whatever weight the fight is at, there will always be a sliver of doubt if DLH wins some people just dont give him the credit he deserves. If he beats Mayweather at 147 people will still say "he was bigger".

Fact is like him or loathe him DLH is one of the best fighters of his generation if not ever and is without doubt an all time great.

If he beats FLoyd at 147, I think it's even bigger. The guy worked his ass off to get there, and he is taking on the best in the world....what more could you ask for.

Your always going to get people who put a bad spin on the the most emphatic win. I see Mayweather having to move up a few pounds for this.

de la hoya is so overrated. anyone else calls him a legend & i will puke on my keyboard. an old hopkins outmanouevred and outclassed dlh. mayweather is at the same level of tactical brilliance as hopkins; while not as nasty or shifty he's a superior physical talent. they are the two best fighters of this generation, not fornicating de la 'smile for the camera' hoya, who whenever he was demanded to show greatness fell short (tito - used up so much nervous energy he couldn't do any fighting the last 4 rds, a real tainted perormance whetehr you think he won or not; mosley - beaten up by the smaller guy who'd looked bad in his matchups previous to DLH, beaten in the late rds, the rds which mattered). need i say more?

as ever, the terms would have to favour de la hoya. so if he wins it really takes the shine off everything.

look at guys like Tapia and Ricardo Lopez. check their fights with Ayala and Alvarez - the brilliance that they showed when put under suffocating pressure. dlh never came close to having what they had. ok not too far off - maybe 4 rds off, the rds that he often seems to fall short in, ha!

Love 'em or hate 'em, you really can't dispute that.

Mosley, Trinidad, and Hopkins, all pretty close fights except Hopkins, and he could easily make a case in the other three he won.

If he was 41-1 against that competition, would you still not call him a legend?

People are quick to name Calzaghe a legend, he doesn't have half the resume.

Not a DLH fan either, would never class him up there with real legends like Leonard, Duran etc.

Had it real easy on the way up, picking up handpicked soft WBO titles and avoiding the real threats along the way like Azumah Nelson, or Chavez until he was well past it.

His first superfight turned into a unforgivable stinker due to Oscar's reluctance to get involved, and if you look closely at his big wins: Quartey, Vargas, Mayorga etc - you'll notice that these were men who'd been exposed in some way prior to Oscar taking them on - ie badly hurt, knocked down and knocked out ( thankyou Tito )

Whereas real legends like Leonard would take on fighters who looked near enough unbeatable - Hearns, Duran.

.....by cheating the scales, he was really a light welterweight.
