I had it 6 to 4 kovalev but thought 5 to 5 was ok.

I figured they'd have canelo up. He gets the close rounds on official cards... hes the star

Still beats 3 soft jabs landed out of 30 thrown. To me it looked like Kovalev didn't even try to land the jab, he just wanted to prevent Canelo from punching. If he had tried to land a stiff jab he would have been more open to counters.
For the record, I wasn't overly impressed with Canelo either, but he did what he knew would be enough with the judges. Any reasonably close round he gets and if the ko opportunity presents itself he'd take it.

Its not just Vegas. Anywhere the A side fights they get every benefit of the doubt

Canelo is tough to judge.. always has been. He fights in spurts and they are often very effective but few and far between.

Jermain Taylor would do that too
