Wilder: I will reject franchise championship
Wilder stated today that he plans to reject any franchise championship by the WBC. If he wins rematches with Ortiz and Fury, he will await his mandatory defense.

I'm sure the haters will be out and about regarding this. Glad to see Wilder doesn't want the bogus belt.

Respect to Wilder for that.

Can he actually reject it though? Like, can the WBC just make him it anyway

Now if Wilder can get by Ortiz and Fury. Maybe we can get to see Wilder vs the Ruiz-Joshua winner.
Then the winner can throw all the belts in the trash where they belong

Surely he'd had to have unified with another champion first....
Re: Wilder: I will reject franchise championship
Good on Wilder. Hopefully more fighters follow suit.

Re: Wilder: I will reject franchise championship
The funny thing is that even the standard abc trinkets make champions take on more responsibilities than the lineal title does
Re: Wilder: I will reject franchise championship
wilder is already in a protected position anyway so why would he bother
Re: Wilder: I will reject franchise championship
...was he offered this franchise belt? ..kinda easy to reject something you don't have

Re: Wilder: I will reject franchise championship
The bogus franchise title is no good for someone who is capable of earning a massive payday by engaging in a heavyweight world championship unification bout.
The bogus franchise title is perfectly fine for any fighter that has no interest in title unification, but simply wants to pick-and-choose their opposition. Perhaps their mandatory challengers are also perceived as being high-risk low-return opponents.
If Wilder’s fellow world champion peers were anonymous names that couldn’t provide him a lucrative payday, then The Bronze Bomber would very likely opt for the WBC’s dodgy franchise title.
It’s all about what’s good for business.

Yeh, seems to just be handing them out. I doubt Loma wanted to give up his world title.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑06 Nov 2019, 18:49 The bogus franchise title is no good for someone who is capable of earning a massive payday by engaging in a heavyweight world championship unification bout.

I don't see why this is reason for applause.
