The Greatest Fight #3 of All-time?

Post by elmersalsa »

Which is the greatest fight #3 of all-time between opponents?

Was it Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier III?

Easy and yes!

But my favorite fight of all time is Vazquez-Marquez 3.

Yes, that was a good one.
But it's got to be the 'Thrilla In Manila' for me.

Emile Griffith vs Benny "Kid" Paret III was a great fight, but ended in tragedy.

Ali-Frazier 3 is mentioned a lot, but it had so much damn holding.

I like Foreman-Lyle. And Howard, it did have some skill. You'll notice a jab or 2.

Floyd Patterson vs Ingemar Johansson fight #3 was a great one for only 5 rounds. Lots of knockdowns.

The first was a great brawl, but the rematches were underwhelming and disappointing, IMHO.

Yup, really overrated trilogy. Never the sense mick had a shot in the last two.

You did say 'fight' and not boxing match so I think Hagler v Hearns has to be in there.

They only fought once. I think this is based on trilogies.

Oh right - I'm not quite with the symbols thing. I thought this might have been a continuing thread and this was the third best 'fight' of all time. I'll go back into my box!

The 1st fight of their series was the best, but Fight #3 between Morales and Barrera was pretty spectacular.

I think you may have the third Ali-Frazier confused with another fight, maybe the second one.

The 2nd fight had even more holding, but Ali-Frazier 3 had a lot of holding as well.

To me, it was the greatest fight of all time. Period. A ton of action. Two guys of great ability fighting in temperature of over 100 degrees, (look at their gloves towards in the latter part of the fight). Nothing beats that.

I don't remember too much holding in Manilla.

Watch it again, Ali had his right glove around the back of Frazier's neck and Carlos Padilia just kept pushing it down.

The 3rd Pac-Marquez was a good one, but the result was stolen from Marquez..
