Rematches which Surpassed Originals?

Holmes - Spinks

The first fight was something else.Bodyshot3 wrote: ↑30 Oct 2019, 15:21 I am generally not a fan of the wee guys...….
...…. but Dave McAuley and Fidel Bassa had two exceptional, blood and thunder flyweight title fights.
The second is better but only just because they caned each other in their first encounter.
Still amazed that McAuley came out of those wars with Bassa and had a good run as the IBF champion.

Ruben Olivares had a couple of re-matches better than the originals when he fought Kanazawa a second time and his second fight with Chucho Castillo. The Kanazawa re-match in particular as the first was a second round KO, the second was a Gomez-Pintor level brawl with incredible drama.

Some old fights where the rematch was considered better:
Fitzsimmons-Jeffries
Dempsey-Tunney
Some that were about even"
Zale -Graziano
Robinson-LaMotta
Basilio-Robinson
Walcott-Louis

Duran vs De Jesus II.
Re: Rematches which Surpassed Originals?
I think I'm partial to the first fight.
Monzon vs Valdez II is my vote.

Yeah good fight, too bad Weaver got shafted.Flump wrote: ↑12 Nov 2019, 09:01Great shout, very underrated brawl, amazing that it went 15 rounds at a good pace.AntonioMartin wrote: ↑02 Nov 2019, 01:04 I hate to say this because:
#1 I was in person at fight one and
# 2 I am Puerto Rican and the Puerto Rican guy lost fight two, but....
Ramirez-Rosario 2 was way better than Rosario-Ramirez 1.
Bramble-Mancini 2, arguably however...
Dokes-Weaver 2 was an excellent fight that went 15 instead of one...
You could say Marquez-Pacquia 4 outdid the other three...
Oh and Pacquiao-Morales 2.

Yeah, caught a little of it way back. Ossie did catch Michael with a couple of strong shots late.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑09 Apr 2020, 13:27The first fight was actually pretty good except for the decision. Ossie got hosed.

Holt vs Torres
Re: Rematches which Surpassed Originals?
For the 90 seconds it lasted, it was a frenetic pace. Issue couldn't handle Michael's speed glow. May be the fastest I have seen Michael.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑10 Apr 2020, 15:33Perhaps you enjoyed it more, on no planet was it a better fight.
