Sven Fornling vs Dominic Bösel - November 16, 2019

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Press Release

Swedish pro boxer Sven Fornling (15-1, 7 KOs) faces another German giant, Dominic Bösel, on November 16. ”It will be wild,” Fornling says in a statement.

The 30-year-old Malmö native penetrated the boxing world following last year’s miraculous IBO title belt bout against Karo Murat in Hamburg. Since then Fornling is ranked highly also within the WBC, the WBA and the IBF organizations.

Following tedious negotiations and a tough injury period in 2019, Team Benton has now introduced his next opponent: the feared and powerful German, Dominic Bösel (29-1, 11 KOs), taking place in city Halle an der Saale at the notable venue, Messehalle.

”I’m glad an agreement has finally been made. It’s been an ongoing process with Team Bösel ever since the cancelled match against Artur Beterbiev in May,”
Fornling says.

Dominic Bösel is ranked top 5 within the WBC, WBA and IBF. His only loss so far came in 2017 on TKO against said Murat, och Bösel is arguably known as Germany’s best boxer. The match is expected to be the greatest highlight of the year nationally.

”Bösel is obviously a great opponent with lots of experience. We did sparring for some time initially in our careers. It doesn’t speak much of our current positions and I believe he might just underestimate the journey I’ve had during these past few years,” Fornling says.

”People say I came from out of nowhere and straight into the boxing elite. But they forget that I faced many solid challenges against qualified opponents before taking on Murat.”

”I went up against undefeated boxers,”
Fornling adds. ”Bösel has so far chosen an easier route – just check the red columns on his recent opponents… I’m of tougher material and will travel down to Germany in November to know him out.”

Tickets to the bout will be released early October.

The interim WBA title, yes, but also Fornling's IBO title AFAIK. The IBO has also got an interim light heavyweight champion, Igor Mikhalkin. The latter is the first ever interim IBO world champion.

Hahaha! WBA... why???

At least he and his team is trying to get a fight with Badou Jack im the Future.

Im going with Forsling by decision, might need them rounds and more exp on a higher level. Again that the IBO has a intrem champ is just... gah!
Know nothing about Bösel other then his record. Padded on then only one lose makes it look good. What is it 29-1 or something?

Edit
Oh! He is the EBU LHW-champ. Still going with Forsling.

Saw this coming. Boesel has beaten nobody and all of his fights are local, but WBO made him a mandatory a few years ago before his only loss. His handlers were never going to let him get hammered by Beterviev, Bivol or even Kovalev and were always going to go the softest route for a paper belt.

Boesel-Fornling Final Press Conference

WBA #1 rated Dominic Boesel (29-1, 11 KOs) and #3 rated Sven Fornling (15-1, 7 KOs) faced off today at the final press conference for Saturday’s clash for the WBA interim world title on Saturday at the Messe Arena in Halle/Salle, Germany. Fornling’s IBO title will also be on the line. ESPN+ will show the bout in the USA. MDR airs it in Germany.

Dominic Boesel: “Fornling is very sure of himself, I’m sure of myself. Everyone has his confidence and that’s a good thing! The advantage is with me. I’m a better boxer and I hit harder. In the end I’m going to get my way. Fornling is no KO puncher. My knockout ratio is better!”

Sven Fornling: “I’m relaxed, very relaxed. On Saturday Boesel will see what a top fighter is, I’m after all the world champion! For me, this fight is not “50-50” I’m going to knock out him!”

SES promoter Ulf Steinforth and EC promoter Erol Ceylan both stated they see the fight as 50-50. Boesel is a -230 betting favorite, while Fornling backers can get +170.

The telecast also features Rio bronze medalist and amateur world champion Mohammed Rabii (9-0, 5 KOs) against Jesus Gurrola (27-14-3, 14 KOs) in a super welterweight clash, heavyweight hopeful Peter Kadiru (5-0, 1 KO) against Perdo Martinez (7-10, 3 KOs), and super middleweight Stefan Haertel (18-1, 2 KOs) against David Zegarra (34-3, 21 KOs).

Lol, I don't know what's lamer, the guy with 11 kos in 30 fights bragging about being the puncher, or him getting it wrong that he has the higher ko percentage

I guess another result to use if you're interested in triangle theories (and how they don't always work!)

I wonder what the cards looked like. Fornling seemed like he'd taken control in the middle rounds but suddenly folded in the 11th.

I did not enjoy Boesel's style. Very robotic, no inside fighting and no body work. I don't see him ever cracking the top 10 of the division.

Boesel vs. Yarde could be interesting. At least it would be a top fight at the Euro level, neither guy really being ready for the divisional elite right now.

Swedish media reports he was released from the hospital. "We just got the news that he can go home," wrote manager Christoffer Cederblad in a text message to the news site Expressen.se. On Sunday, there were reports from the hospital that Fornling had suffered a head bleed, which was later dismissed by Cederblad. "We feared it would be something really bad like a brain hemorrhage, but it's not. Sven is not feeling well, but is on the road to improvement."

The number of times that this have happen among Swedish boxers is pretty crazy.

First, Krajnc after him it was Wallberg after her Skoglund in his sparring session and now Fornling... Damn Swedes are cursed or something.

Most people are cause it is dangerous(No sh*t), but the pro-ban has been lifted. But this will make some lawmakers itchy too trying another go at the new ban in the worse case scenario.
