Even Wilder as the arguably best p4p isn't usually stopping guys out of nowhere with one shot , one shot is overused, pretty much everyone needs that build up of punches some guys just need more of it

The best one punch guy is wilder. It isnt really an argument. Hes a one shot ko artist at the heaviest weight class and at the top of the division

until he fights someone who can present a challenge

I actually think Wilder may be the biggest hitter in the sport currently at Heavyweight OR in a P4P sense.

The reason I say that is because almost everyone he gets in the ring with can outbox him. I mean hell Szpilka outboxed him for long stretches for f*cks sake.

But his power ALWAYS bails him out. His power, and nothing more.

One shot KO Stiverne? He decisioned him in a total beatdown, and then used him for target practice in the rematch, with like 3 or 4 kds and lots of power punches. Obviously the power is great but even he is rarely icing guys one shot and done

come on you know fury can dance and move but thats about it ! look at his last outing vs wallin .
and ortiz is now due a pension plus he also has never fought anyone at the top except wilder and lost .

Wilder is going to get found out - maybe not by ortiz but somebody going to show him the door

I agree Margaret. Heck knockouts are rare at the top level... you dont get to the top level usually unless you are sound defensively with a solid chin.

Inoue coming up in weight and hurting Jamie McDonnell with every punch he landed was the best display of power punching p4p that I have seen in years IMO. To take a bloke who has shown consistent durability at world level over about 6 or 7 fights(?), and beat him like a child, was awesome IMO and I can't think of a good recent comparison to that performance (though I await correction on that, it's probably not unique but the optics of that fight will stay with me for years)

I mean was McDonnell ever in serious trouble before? I vaguely recall that Japanese kid dropping him but I don't recall feeling he was on the verge of being stopped. He looked a combination shell shocked/terrified against Inoue.

That was more an example of how it doesn't take a particularly skilled boxer to outbox him than it was that Szpilka was some great scalp.

The difference is what generates the power. George Foreman had 'heavy hands.' Thudding power. Wilder uses leverage and speed to produce his prodigious power, and it mostly comes from his right hand. Foreman's jab could make you get wobbly.

When Wilder made the 2008 Olympic team and the team was in training camp at the US Olympic training center, they had a heavybag that could register the power of punches. Wilder's jab was harder than anybodies powerhand cross.

Now his fundamentals sucked then and still do so he can be outboxed but don't get hit by him with a solid shot.

I remember when Tank was 13 and not much over 100 lbs, he worked over one of my guys who was a welterweight who then said I have to get a picture with the 13 year old who just kicked my ass. My guys were mostly novice boxers at the time.

how is he as a person? his love for baltimore must be strong. he is a multi millionere now and still trains in the hood. does he still live in baltimore or more outside?

I knew Tank when he was an amateur. He was a good dude then. He was always respectful to me. I've known his trainer Calvin for years. To be honest, I haven't been around him since he is a pro. When I take boxers to Baltimore to train more recently, I've been going to some other gyms. Tanks gym "Upton" which is what the neighborhood is called is attracting some good pros now. My guys are amateurs. At Upton now with the good pros, they aren't going to take it easy on some amateurs so I go to gyms for sparring where the boxers are on more equal level.
I'm pretty sure Tank is still living in the West Baltimore neighborhood he grew up in but he may have bought a nicer house. I don't know for sure.
