Iain Weaver

Post by broomy7s »

I noticed he fought on the 2nd November in Texas and got Ko'd. Anyone know if he's ok? He obviously failed brain scans and can't get a uk licence so it's worrying to see him fighting on and suffering a ko loss.

I think he’s licensed by BIBA

I don't recall where I saw it, maybe on here, but it was stopped due to a bad cut.

Yes he got elbowed in the 4th and it was stopped. Weaver had to have 13 stitches. Apparently he was 3 rounds up before the elbow.

As the last poster has commented, he was elbowed and cut. The eye swelled shut and the fight was stopped. He is back home healthy from what i see on social media.

He hasnt failed brain scans. A BBBoC scan found an arachnoid cyst, similar to what Wayne McCullough had. Weaver has had it since birth and all the way through his amateur career. He is at increased risk of injury because of it by something like 0.00001%. He has instructed his own expert neurologist to challenge the board but they wont budge. He is a class boxer and certain not a gluton for punishment. He's a master of hit and not get hit. Very well schooled and a lovely quiet family man too.

Does he say he was up 3-0? Because BoxRec has him down. And I wonder why it's a loss if it was an elbow.

Presumably it’s too low level to have been televised but it would be interesting to see how the cut opened given that it’s recorded as a TKO loss

Think Weaver should have moved to the states to make a living over there when he turned pro.

I'm not sure when the rule changed but if you got stopped by a cut from a head or elbow it was tough titty!
I remember Robbie regain winning every round against ampofa but getting stopped late on from cuts caused by headwork, there are many other examples.

Fair enough. Glad it was only a cut.
