I doubt he was stronger, definitely had a better chin. Tough to predict vit since he never beat anyone of note.

If Tyson Fury was stopped in hes fight against Otto Wallin because of that cut he had would that then mean that Otto was always better boxer than Fury?

Vitali was winning the fight against Lennox but unfortunately the fight had to be stopped due to freak injury.

Vitali would be hard night for anyone in boxing history. That chin, skill and work rate would be hard to beat. I don't know how hes style would mix up with some of the other old greats but he was never down or behind in score cards in a boxing match. Also that 87.23% KO percentage in 47 fights is pretty good indicator that he had at least decent power.

Oh, yeah agree there. Though the only top guy he ever faced beat the dog shit out of him, he took it well.

Lewis would beat everyone. He was near perfect. Big, skillful, technical, smart, hard-hitting, fluid, durable.

But beatable still.

Holmes and Ali would have taken away his jab which would have been a big problem.

If he fought them all one of the punchers would stop him too.

I think Lewis could handle punchers, he totally negated tua. Rahman and mccall weren't really vaunted punchers either of them.

Everyone is beatable. Even if I pick Lewis over everyone, this doesn't mean, that I say, that Lewis wouldn't lose to someone. But if he fought with his conquerors several times, he would win the series. I'd pick him to win the majority of bouts against Holmes and Ali as well.

How about punchers where he doesnt have the height reach advantage.

Lewis same as Wladimir were lucky that not 1 single heavyweight existed who a very good boxer and tall. Tua and tyson were ~5'10, rahman and holyfield ~6'2. Lewis was 6'4 and ones he faced an atg tall boxer he had huge problems.

I don't like Lennox getting through foreman, Tyson, wlad and wilder without getting caught. I think he'd smoke wlad and wilder, but I'd favor George and Tyson. Mike only because Lewis was shitting bricks against the shot version for a Rd. One of them would ice him.

Was a toss up between Lennox Lewis and Ali, I see others agree. I went with Ali.

To be real though, there isn't a name on that List who could have beaten all of them all without a loss, I just feel Ali and Lewis would have the best chance of beating them all.

Difficult to answer really,Do you mean beat them all and stay unbeaten himself,or have a series of fights with each and win the majority of them ?Each one on the list could win and lose some if they were all matched at some point.

RonnyJ wrote: 15 Nov 2019, 04:40 Who is the top HW ever. Difficult question, since heavyweights grew so much in height and weight. Ali may have the best skills ever @hw, but skills with his height and weight wouldnt be enough for todays very tall hw.
Mike on the other hand would also have a tremendous height weight disadvantage, but makes him so dangerous is, in his prime he was great at everything, great speed, atg punching power, great chin, he was the total package and when he would be close to klitschko, joshua, wilder, than these boxers would have a problem. With a semi good or even a good chin prime Tyson close would be a desaster. Tall boxers have problems taking body shots and aside vitaly most have weak chin like wladimir, lewis etc..

What is your take, or does the best hw ever dont exist and styles make fight and everybody even in his prime can lose to a other boxer?
I don't think Lewis had a weak chin at all,he was hit with plenty of big punches from the likes of Tua,Tyson,Vitali,Bruno and wasn't troubled at all really, yes he got flattened twice but if he had a chin problem he would have been like Wlad and suffered many knockdowns or been wobbled several times, which he wasn't.

Good informative post.

I also believe that Vitali Klitschko was the best 'modern day' heavyweight - since Mike Tyson of course.

However I also believe that Vitali would have had little chance in that most difficult of fights for any heavyweight before or since - Muhammad Ali of 66/67.

Of course if Anthony Joshua walks through Andy Ruiz next month, no doubt we'll see a revival of the Joshua is the greatest of all-time. Too big - too strong.

On the other hand if Andy Ruiz was to win again and then take out Wilder too...

Tua, nor Tyson, landed anything big against Lewis, but your point is valid. His chin wasn't bad.

None probably, but I'd give Lennox the best chance. Not too impressed with the list though. Vitali gets too much respect. He never beat anything close to a formidable opponenet, and Lewis was turning the fight around when it was stopped.

He wasnt hard to hit though, and with such a size disparity he'd have struggled.
