Michael Buffer

Post by Stuarty »

I've been saying for years he's fuckin past it and for me his brand of cheese and cheapery stains good fights! He makes massive mistakes again and again and he needs to just fukk off imo..... He's made a lot more money than what he's worth and he should go. Anyone agree or have an opposing argument?

The 'Lets get ready to rumble' shout out is way past its sell by date, but saying that its not as bad as the worse tag line ive heard which was some years ago now but 'lets raise some hell at the start of the bell' was just effing shite. Also the one I heard at the weekend 'Lets get this party started' as an introduction to a boxing match is just wank.

'Man your battle stations' another Buffer fluffer is pretty dire too.

Same here mate. It's a thing that needs addressed without a doubt.. The announcer cheese is also a stain on our sport and needs fixed! I remember years ago when Burns boxed Mitchell he slabbered some shite about 'Rob Roy Mcgregor' and i nearly choked on ma beer! Utter garbage!

I couldn't agree more. Buffer was electric in the '90s. In the '90s! He's way past it now, as is his catch phrase. He's done well but he's had his day now.

I agree, hes very poor, always has been. But what really upsets me and always has is he gets more money to cock things up than some smaller weight world champions get for defending their titles. He may well be a very nice man but it's just not right.

He's loooong past it..

He's even worst at weigh-ins..

Says the boxers names like 3-4 times, adds the the alias in there a few times as well, looonging the word out.

He seems to have gotten more free with time, especially with being on Matchroom/Sky cards. Having been interviews by the likes of Kugan & co.

I remember Buffer in WCW..

Never liked buffer , even in his so-called heyday. A real drama queen with all the added biography he built into the ring introductions, yack yack yack, just sucks the life out of it for me, much prefer Jimmy Lennon

I liked Ed Derien (I think that was his name) - I believe he died fairly recently...... campest MC ever...... "this good looking, kind, hunky gentleman".... okay he didn't quite say that but I liked how his speeches didn't really fit in with the boxing community.

I think both John McDonald in his early days and Diomande have cited him as an influnce - John used to always compliment the town a fight was from "from the beautiful city of belfast" - and Derien was the king of the double surname.

We've had some come and go.

Don't see much of Michael Pass on the TV anymore, Gary Shogun Logan, I liked the Scottish one (name has escaped me) but he has been demoted cos of Diomonte and off course John "Sports fans and sky fans" McDonald hasn't done boxing in a while now.
