NEW: AJ v Ruiz A heavyweight Upset.

Post by MightyWarrior »

Great 30 min doc just aired on sky, really classy production and a big surprise from the usual bang average sky boxing production values.

So much better as there’s no commentary, and less really is more. it just covers fight week in New York, behind the scenes with the undercard fighters and the main players, getting ready for the big night. Real sound and the occasional voices of the fighters ...and every now and then brief music and white noise, well chosen as it builds the tension to one of the biggest shocks in boxing we’ve ever seen.

I think the inspiration for this show must’ve come from the amazing Ali Frazier documentary “the fight”
Where the same use of no commentary and real sound puts you right there. :salut:

Not bad actually.

They should maybe just mute Smith's microphone from now on.

Less is more.

I don’t understand why they can’t understand that the majority of viewers can actually see what’s happening as the fight progresses.

Same with the naz docu, didn’t need a detached head narrating what was happening every two minutes. It was obviously watching it and listening to them talking.

I disagree. The majority of viewers are casuals and if watching in the pub in a close fight say "whos winning?" Thats how sky make their money

Like they ever Have the volume up anyway in pubs? I watched the klit AJ fight in the pub, you couldn’t hear a thing for people shouting anyway.

Wasn't bad, but the quotes at the end were pure cheese.

Sky always seem to rip off someone else's style. They've been doing it for years. BT sport are far more innovative in both their presentation and their shoulder programming.
