Will Wilder lose his power if he gets KO'd.
Will Wilder lose his power if he gets KO'd.
The source of much of Wilder's power is his fearless ability to throw big looping shots.
Should he get caught one day doing this by ortiz or whomever, will he then be afraid
to throw those type of shots and lose a major aspect of his power and effectiveness.
He really hasn't been tested much.

Power?
The only way he loses it is through age or lack of training, and even then, it's still generated through a combination of wingspan, and fast twitch fibres.
He would only lose confidence if he was knocked out, and even then he is so full of himself it probably wouldn't be enough.

And it would depend on the circumstances. Lewis got one timed in both his losses. AJ got beaten up. Very different responses.KiwiRider wrote: ↑19 Nov 2019, 15:30 Power?

+ it takes a fair bit to knock him out, you have to get past his chin, the ref, the ringside doctors etc etcoogiebe wrote: ↑19 Nov 2019, 15:32And it would depend on the circumstances. If he starts pulling his punches out of weariness he may in effect not be punching his hard, but obviously his physiology to throw a hard punch isn't changing
Re: Will Wilder lose his power if he gets KO'd.
Still as soon as Mike Tyson wasn't as fearless in his attack
he became much more beatable.

The man who destroyed the one chip challenge lose his power? pffft. This challenge had Shaq run out of the room and the Ninja Warrior host guy crying for an ambulance.

It's alright marv my man
And hell, isn't fight week the time for all of it? Speculation over reactions to knockouts, last minute trash talk and hating, body on recording, etc.

Re: Will Wilder lose his power if he gets KO'd.
Some of the comments I’ve been reading about Deontay Wilder in this forum recently have been utterly bizarre!
‘The Bronze Bomber’ struggled to overcome a middle-aged over hyped Cuban, he’s been hurt multiple times by mediocre opposition and the vast majority of those that witnessed his bout against Tyson Fury believed he lost that fight.
Wilder isn’t a dead-cert Hall-of-Famer, he’s accomplished nothing to suggest he should be rated above any historically-significant fighters and nor should he be considered as being the best heavyweight currently competing today.
Even if there are a few overly-sensitive souls emotionally-traumatised by the factually-accurate nature of my posts, they’re not entitled to have an opinion about any of the facts I’ve listed.

Anyone noticed how the next two big heavyweight fights are both rematches of seventh round ko fights? And both involve Latinos, in one case one is looking to avenge a loss and in another one one is looking to ratify a win....

Re: Will Wilder lose his power if he gets KO'd.
Sometimes fighters do become gun-shy and less effective after suffering the ordeal of being KO’d, due to being hesitant to take risks and place themselves in the firing line whilst attempting to unload their own haymakers.snake33 wrote: ↑19 Nov 2019, 15:07 The source of much of Wilder's power is his fearless ability to throw big looping shots.

He really hasn't been tested much.
It doesn’t always happen though and is probably dependent on a combination of the mental strength of the individual fighter, coupled with the nature of their defeat (i.e. it’s probably easier to overcome a one-punch KO rather than a one-sided prolonged physically-punishing bruising beatdown).
We won’t know whether this will affect Wilder though, until we see it happen. And it’s bound to at some point, since most fighters suffer stoppage defeats during their careers.

Power is the last thing to go in an aging fighter. One of the oldest rules in boxing.

A big if is that Wilder loses his killer instinct, then he would be done as a fighter.
