Makhmudov vs Sam Peter

Post by oogiebe »

Beasty Arslanbek Makhmudov is back in the ring on 12/07 vs former contender and past it Sam Peter, Makhmudov is a killer with a wicked right uppercut and concussive power. I'd love to see him in a true step-up fight as he's a great watch and has the power to compete at any level.

Also on the card, Canadian Simon Kean continues his tomato can path as he faces Siarhei Liakhovich.

The main event is David Lemieux vs Max Bursak.

not a great card, but the two HW bouts make this something I will want to see.

Speaking of Mak, I was watching some of his WSB stuff. The fight with Nistor was quite a battle with a big start and a big ending

Wasn't he with Don King? He probably got rinsed.

I remember reading about his fights with Toney in Boxing News when I was a total newbie casual. I remember thinking they have both had first names as last names and that they were both fat (Peter never caught my imagination. Obviously as I gradually caught the bug I learned all about Toney) and couldn't believe they were being taken seriously. I think this was around the time I had to download a youtube video before I watched it and it took about an hour, so the best Peter I've ever seen was his fight with Wlad. How do you knock somebody down three times and still lose?

Peter has been cannon fodder for prospects so long I remember him being fed to 'rising prospect' Robert Helenius. Helenius should have retired at least a year ago, let alone Samuel Peter.

I only ever heard of Nistor before because of his wins over Joshua and Hrgovic, but I must confess to not following the WSB much, apart from checking out the odd famous battle (Usyk-Joyce springs to mind). Apart from the stoppage Makhmudov looks crap here. What fights should I check out to follow the improvement?

Jonathon Rice and Avery Gibson. The boy's a banger. Right uppercut is vicious. Don't expect a show of skills though.

Peter is just old...he and Liachovich or whatever my fellow Phoenician's last name is..keep the bandwagon of dinosaurs that George Foreman turned on 32 years ago on running.

A more interesting bout would be Peter-Liackovich...

You should watch him fight against Peter, because his previous opponents weren't up to par... So Peter is the step up to see if Mak has improved. :maybe:
