He showed some talent against Bowe. He had some good boxing skills. Then he just disappeared for several years, fighting journeyman. Then he he started fighting better fighters, and did OK. He was slower by then.

He had some good skills and seemed to model his style on Ali, but lacked power and frankly commitment. A mid tier heavyweight overall.

I strongly agreed with you. Larry Donald was a mid tier heavyweight, but he doesn't deserve the moniker "Legend" because he never did anything legendary other than beating a past prime former two-time Heavyweight Champion "Terrible" Tim Witherspoon. The legend who deserve the moniker "Legend" is the "Easton Assassin" Larry Holmes the real legend and the former World Heavyweight Champion.

He should've been much more than he ended up being. He had more talent than the sum total of his career, which ended up being pretty meaningless and forgettable.

Always been a mystery as to why he was not fighting higher level opponents after the Bowe fight. He all but disappeared. He did have some boxing skills.

I guess he didn't get too many decent offers due to his style. To his credit, he should've won the eliminator against Valuev (though that would mean Ruiz-Donald fight... so I can't feel really sorry for him).

I remember Dona's fight against Bowe. He looked a lot better than I thought he would. It seemed like he had a bright future. Then he disappeared. Never or heard about him for 6 or 7 years.

Donald had size and skill but he didn't have any heart. He was out of his league versus Bowe and Klitschko but even Kirk Johnson, a similarly gutless character, was able to intimidate him into his shell and win an easy decision. After Obed Sullivan was killed by David Tua Don King stole him out of the morgue just to get Donald a name win--only to see Sullivan nearly hustle himself the decision! (LD saved himself on the cards with a last round desperation knockdown.) I remember him being on the verge of getting KOd by Dave Dixon (!!!), of all people, but pulled out with a tiny cut.

If you were a washed up old man (Holyfield, Witherspoon), or a drug addict (Cooper, Biggs), or as bad as the aforementioned (Valuev, everyone else) he could beat you. But anyone with a pulse scared him into his shell.

Pointing out the fact Witherspoon and Holyfield were washed up old men is being a keyboard warrior? Were Biggs and Cooper not drug addicts? What part of any of this being a keyboard warrior?

Isn't going on Facebook to write messages to Riddick Bowe you wouldn't dare say to Bowe's face from the safety of your hovel being a keyboard warrior? Because that's what you did! :OhYes:

OK guys, lets play nice. :D

For me, the fight to on with Donald is the Bowe fight. He didn't do much offensively, but did show a some hand speed and a good jab. He moved well and was hard to hit. I thought he won some rounds in this fight and others were close.

At this point, Donald had been a pro for less than two years and Bowe was in his prime. It's hard to fathom many guys even taking this fight, let alone holding their own.

Have no idea (and apparently no one else does either) what happened to Donald in the next few years. He fought one stiff after another. Who knows how well he performed. It had to stunt his progress not fighting decent competition.

When I spoke to Bowe on Facebook, I didn't say anything I wouldn't have said to his face. I asked him about dumping the belt, Lewis and Rock Neuman. He answered all my questions in the same manner I asked them, politely.

So what about you. Would you tell Larry Donald he didn't have any heart to his face? Or accuse Kirk Johnson of being gutless?

No, I wouldn't track him down and say anything to him at all. What's the point? You've called Bowe every name under the sun here so stop being a hypocrite.

Stop talking rubbish man. You act like a child on here, slinging insults at boxers whenever you get the chance.

How about we spar a few rounds? Or are you the gutless one?
