Re: Craig Glover vs. Chris Billam-Smith - 23 November 2019
Craig Glover and Chris Billam-Smith will have a lot more at stake when they fight before the end of the month.
The promoter of the show, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, said when revealing the fight that it was likely that it would be for a belt.
And it was confirmed on Friday afternoon that the fight will have the vacant Commonwealth title at 200 pounds attached to it.
Lawrence Okolie recently relinquished the crown after stepping up in class and stopping European champion Yves Ngabu to capture the blue belt at the O2 Arena in London.

Re: Craig Glover vs. Chris Billam-Smith - 23 November 2019
Earlier this week it was announced that Richard Riakporhe (10-0, 8 KOs) and Jack Massey (16-0, 8 KOs) will contest the vacant British title, previously held by Lawrence Okolie, on Matchroom Boxing’s final UK show of the year at York Hall on December 19th as part of Eddie Hearn’s NXT GEN series.
Yesterday (Wednesday) it was revealed that Deion Jumah (12-0, 7 KOs) will defend his English title against Sam Hyde (15-1-1, 8 KOs) with a date and venue to be announced. The 26-year-old challenger from Sale, Cheshire announced the news on his Twitter account yesterday declaring “Let’s go to war!!” The fight will also act as a final eliminator for the British title.
Some good fights in the British cruiserweight scene..

Re: Craig Glover vs. Chris Billam-Smith - 23 November 2019
I think this will another wee domestic Cruiserweight cracker although maybe even an early blowout for Billam-Smith, I might be doing Glover a disservice, the KO lately might have been a bit of a fluke, bit of a shocker that, he looked good against Vallily, he can bang so I wouldn't completely rule him out but I think Billam-Smith will have a bit too much for him and as I say maybe even finish things early, especially knowing that Glover was stopped early recently, Billam-Smith pushed Riakhpore close, I think he's a level above and starts fast and hits hard

Re: Craig Glover vs. Chris Billam-Smith - 23 November 2019
Fun wee shoot out as expected, both guys throwing heavy leather from the 1st round, Glover brave and looked dangerous right up until he got dropped from that left hook right at the death of the 4th, he was landing some clean right hands on Billam-Smith and I think he made Billam-Smith feel a few of those shots, legs legs stiffened once or twice
Billam-Smith always looked the classier boxer though, better jab and some nice work to the body as well, he landed his fair share of clean punches as well, lovely knockdown in the 4th and got things done in the 5th, another quality left hook for the second KD of the fight, should've got stopped there probably but Glover was still throwing back but once Billam-Smith set him up for they 2 chopping right hands for the last KD, you knew it was def over, good wee fight , Billam-Smith could be in some some more good domestic dust ups

Looked like it would heat into something special but Glover, as strong as he looked, couldn’t avoid B-S’s varied attack and was taken apart by the longer man.

Billam-Smiths set himself up for some decent fights against Isaac Chamberlain and Luke Watkins hopefully.

Delighted for Chris Billam-Smith, really good strong performance.
He’s local to me and I’ve been to a few of the small shows he’s been headlining within the past 2 years in Bournemouth. A very grounded and unassuming chap. He had a very decent amateur career and I think he lost in an ABA final. Nasty scar to his right soldier where he had an op several years ago before he turned over. I hope that injury doesn’t resurface at some point.
He has really benefitted from expert tuition under Shane McGuigan. He could be a bit of a dark horse in terms of the level of success he might achieve. Training alongside Okolo, Josh Taylor, Luke Campbell and previously George Groves is gold.
A clean living lad, properly living the life.

CBS looked strong, people know him as a tidy boxer but Saturday he showed he had good pop also. Which he will need to compete with the top domestic guys.
He was a little unfortunate not to get the nod vs Riakpore also. That rematch could happen down the line and I'd fancy CBS to win clearly if they do it again as he has far more potential for improvement than Dillain's mate.

I was impressed with Billam-Smith - He's a bit too easy to hit which is going to be a problem when he gets in with a slickster.
Glover had the fight knocked out of him. Billam-Smith did land some sickening shots, some cute stuff in there as well. He was landing with intent, his jabs where good etc.
