I know
But the best boxer of his generation boasting about reaching the mythical in his own mind 50-0 against a mma fighter in a contest which was fought with purely boxing rules was an embarrassment.
Though I accept the two fighters didn't give a f*ck about that as they got paid hugely.
I'll look forward to the announcement of his opponent. It will be another mma fighter who fancies a payday or some social media tough guy. We'll all be shocked if its even an ex boxer let alone an active one.

To be fair, Mayweather redeemed himself when he fought Tenshin. He didn’t need to take that fight and was lucky to have held on to his power so late in his career. Mayweathers always been able to get out of trouble relying on his power.

What's the difference how he reached the 50-0 mark?ewenhay wrote: ↑22 Nov 2019, 17:42I know

Being a Champion for damn near 20 years doesn't give him the right to just have a big Superfight that the masses wanna see?
If his entire 50 fight career was built on Conor McGregor's maybe you'd have a point in saying he's a disgrace, but Conor was just a one off freakish occurrence where the guy just so happened to be THAT big a star in his sport and THAT good a talker at getting people hyped about it that it all worked.
Sometimes these things happen in the Combat Sports world.
Boxing, Kickboxing, MMA, Pro Wrestling...they're all kinda in the same family of Entertainment if you think about it.
People fighting.
When 2 people become such big superstars that their name is more well known than the majority of anything else about the sport then it's safe to say that the standard has kinda gone out the window because they're not standard.
On an unrelated note apart from that whole rant.
Just for the hell of it I'd like to see a Boxing vs MMA crossover event sometime where they have a Kickboxing match. Ya know halfway between the two sports.

Sounds to me like some are just jelly of Floyd
Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
If Floyd jumps in with Spence or Crawford and gets the W, then I give him kudos again as the All-time great of this current era.

I didn't read it all---does that just say he's starting businesses? Because that doesn't at all mean he won't lose loads of money, that's one way people usually go brokeImpractical Poster wrote: ↑22 Nov 2019, 18:25https://www.google.com/amp/s/fortune.co ... oxing/amp/keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑22 Nov 2019, 17:11

That said, you can tell some people are really hoping he loses it and are doing wishful thinking. I mean, even if he's got loads of money, something like tens of millions for risk free exhibitions is still pretty appealing...

These are potential businesses to add to his already established businesses.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑22 Nov 2019, 21:07I didn't read it all---does that just say he's starting businesses? As of the end of 2017, Floyd was worth 1 billion dollars. Someone who squanders money would never be able to get to that sort of wealth.
You are absolutely right about wishful thinking. People just spit out any kind of crap with no knowledge behind their statement.

In Australia it’s called ‘tall poppy syndrome’. Very common in Western countries.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑22 Nov 2019, 21:10These are potential businesses to add to his already established businesses.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑22 Nov 2019, 21:07

I don't think Floyd really cares if it's "boxing" anymore. "If it makes dollars it makes sense." If he can make potential record breaking ppv numbers putting on a show, why wouldn't he?ewenhay wrote: ↑23 Nov 2019, 05:20As I said, we're not going to agree.gilgamesh wrote: ↑22 Nov 2019, 18:52
