Odd how desperate people are for him to be broke. He'll certainly never know Antonio level broke again. I'm certainly not broke or wealthy, but my comfort is a level of broke he'll never see either. McGregor was a much better fight than berto. Lol

He'll still count it on his professional record thoughImpractical Poster wrote: ↑23 Nov 2019, 10:57I don't think Floyd really cares if it's "boxing" anymore. "If it makes dollars it makes sense." If he can make potential record breaking ppv numbers putting on a show, why wouldn't he?
Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
Haha! So much hate! You don't need to pay or watch him fight, just saying
Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
Nobody is jealous or "hating"
Nothing wrong with calling out bollocks when it reveals itself.
Otherwise why bother complaining about Fury fighting Wallin or Alvarez fighting Fielding etc.?

I don't complain about any of them for the most part. I didn't watch Floyd/berto and I bought Floyd/McGregor. Wasn't disappointed. Decent fight.

He should fight Kabib then Manny
Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
The question is, do fans care sbout FM coming back, what is the benefit to you of him returning.
My view is simple, 90 % of his fights in the last 10 years were boring, except the cotto fight. So why would it give me something of him coming back. He is boring, he rarly fights the best, he doesnt take risks.

Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
You've not paid attention to what Boxing is then. Boxing is 2 people fighting for entertainment because people wanna see 'em fight. Nothing more, nothing less.ewenhay wrote: ↑23 Nov 2019, 05:20As I said, we're not going to agree.gilgamesh wrote: ↑22 Nov 2019, 18:52
What's the difference how he reached the 50-0 mark?
Being a Champion for damn near 20 years doesn't give him the right to just have a big Superfight that the masses wanna see?
If his entire 50 fight career was built on Conor McGregor's maybe you'd have a point in saying he's a disgrace, but Conor was just a one off freakish occurrence where the guy just so happened to be THAT big a star in his sport and THAT good a talker at getting people hyped about it that it all worked.
Sometimes these things happen in the Combat Sports world.
Boxing, Kickboxing, MMA, Pro Wrestling...they're all kinda in the same family of Entertainment if you think about it.
People fighting.
When 2 people become such big superstars that their name is more well known than the majority of anything else about the sport then it's safe to say that the standard has kinda gone out the window because they're not standard.
On an unrelated note apart from that whole rant.
Just for the hell of it I'd like to see a Boxing vs MMA crossover event sometime where they have a Kickboxing match. Ya know halfway between the two sports.
What you've described above isnt boxing, it's just nonsense to me.
Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
I didn't complain about either of these fights. Fury vs Wallin turned out pretty damn entertaining actually.

Looks like the long awaited Homer Simpson bout is going to happen then?
Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
I know what boxing is and I suspect you know that too.
If you like the prospect of Mayweather fighting some guy from the ufc or some celebrity then fine, everyone likes what they like. I've no problem with that. People can spend their money how they like.
My issue is the dressing of it up as professional boxing.
Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
Because we all know how this will play out.
It will be licenced as a professional boxing bout in Nevada and the wbc will sanction it for some belt.
Mayweather will win and declare he is 51-0
Bollocks to that

Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
How is it not Professional Boxing? Conor's fought to the level of being a World Champion and a major star in his chosen sport. He was a mega star going into the Mayweather fight. Mayweather wasn't exactly a spring chicken, Conor was in his prime. It had all the right ingredients to be a Boxing Circus and it was one.
Boxing is just one fight at a time. There is no NBA or MLB or NHL or NFL or whatever League brand to disgrace. It's just one fight at a time, and you take it or you leave it.
I didn't pay for Conor and Mayweather. I didn't pay for KSI and Logan Paul either. But I don't begrudge these people for fighting these fights, and making the money offered them.

You've lost the plot
Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
How?
You keep giving short responses, but actually tell me how these events somehow disgrace the sport. I'd genuinely like to hear your answer.

Playing on Floyd as a cherrypicker or that he did,'t fight Manny right away. Is still just hating and has nothing to do other then with the low-level whinning.
Floyd has all the tolls, did he play the game. Yes, he did. Going by that he is boring or your not his fan. Fine, it is good business when people pay for seeing you get beat up. Going mainstream makes money, if none boxingfans knows anout you. Then the pay check will be bigger. Simple.
Or do I have to namedrop the guys he fought? He did school everyone. Did he have off-nights? Of course he did. Did he get close decisions now and then. Yeah.
Most of you guys are mostly hating on him cause, you can't stand him for reasons that are understandable. He goes arrogant, plays up the money game in boxing and wins.
Will somebody take his 0? Maybe, but he has the skillset and takes care of himself. Accept when he fvcks up now and then.
Btw would loved to see him against Margarito, but that guy is a cheat and cold bastard. Floyd would school his ass.
A fan of the boxer, the human being behind thou, another story.

Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
I've said several times.
The best boxer of his generation fighting people from other sports in boxing rules and adding this to his professional boxing legacy is a disgrace to boxing.
I had no issue with the exhibition fight.
Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
A fighter is a fighter. When Conor trained for months for a Boxing match, and donned boxing gloves he was a Boxer at least for that night.
If Mayweather had fought one more guy nobody ever heard on the way up he could've just as easily had that 50th win that way too, but instead he had a big megafight with a Superstar from another sport.
Oh...the horror. The utter disgrace to a sport that has a reputation for fixes, involvement from gangsters, wasn't legal in several places until the 1920's, has been called for to be abolished by Politicians due to it's brutality, has been known to use and abuse fighters until they're well past their best, and suffer permanent brain damage as a result. Has a whole load of fighters who are known to be nothing ore than paid opponents, ya know show up, do ok, but not TOO good. Enough to lose.
Yeah...we wouldn't wanna disgrace all that would we?

Re: Mayweather announces his return to boxing in 2020
I like any event that brings casual fans into the sport. I didnt personally enjoy KSI vs Logan Paul but it is good for the overall health of boxing to have events like this.

Alright then. I'm right though
Enjoy the fight later indeed. I probably won't get to.

I honestly don't see the big deal here. It's not like he's breaking some holy record by taking a fight with a 12 year old girl. Not sure why it matters so much to you.
