Oh, he never does that in other fights? C'mon Margie. That's irrelevant. The dude could come in shredded and he'd clown the very same way.
Wut

I'm just asking, if he was just clowning what did he put together that he couldn't do again. What did Fury actually do to win more rounds than Wilder?
He avoided being ko'd. He was moving for 12 full rounds. He said he was in the best shape of his life. What was so confusing? I don't think he can do it again. Would you like me to post in another language?

I have been lucky enough to have had good seats at some of Wilders previous title defenses. His punches sound different than any other fighter on the card when they land. So judging, depending on what style you like can be difficult. It doesn't exactly translate to TV so unless you are ringside, you dont hear that snap. It's hard to ignore as a judge when he is clearly inflicting damage but may be not very busy in certain rounds.

Sure, what languages do you know?

Just was wondering, because it seemed from reading that all he did was stick his tongue out and waive his arms, but then why even score him winning or drawing.

You know very well that I was referring to folks giving those antics credit. Never said "all he did." That's you (once again) adding your own narratigve. Still a PITA.

It mattered to be able to back up my arguments in the face of idiocy, yes.

Plus I had nothing better to do on a rainy day mid week, during the slowest part of the year, it's not like I went through it frame by frame. I just wanted to understand where the Wilder fans were coming from.

I couldn't.

Again it was only close if you ignore all other factors including Fury's defensive skills. And only focus on work put in by Wilder. Which is what a dyed in the wool Wilder fan would do I suppose...
Oh FFS another self-proclaimed expert. Everyone who disagrees is an idiot! I'm not wasting anymore of my time. Ciao! :salut:
Typical of you Oogibie when you are losing an argument. Argueing with you is like pinning down quicksand.

Just look at the average score cards on-sites like eye on the ring. I'm not an expert. I don't need to be, your position is an outlier.

Which if you follow the logic would suggest you see yourself as the expert unwilling to accept the majority view. :TU:

Saw a vid with Ruiz that was made the other day. He didn't look as good as those pics that were posted.

Ya and reading some more stuff he was talking about coming in 10 pounds lighter than the first fight, obviously not far lighter like it may have seemed. Coulda been flattering angles and stuff

Also because one of the picks he posted were actually from when he first got his tattoo done, way before he fought Joshua

The on one the right was an old photo. The one on the left is "a beauty shot" used for marketing. A lot of YouTubers/websites can't be arsed using Google search and just want to be first to spread "news."

Same for some of the photos of Joshua. I"m sure he de-bulked some, but a few of those pics were 'stretched.' I hear he's coming in around 240-243.

True. I think Fury averaged landing slightly over one punch per round more than Wilder. People will tune in though, in hopes of seeing a devastating KO by Wilder, or Fury winning ugly, and shutting Wilder up. I'm not convinced Fury wants the rematch though. I'll believe it when he gets in the ring. He could make lots of money in a safer way in fake pro wrestling.
According to Boxstat.co (slow-motion replay), Fury averaged landing 2.5 punches per round more than Wilder.
In a fight with a low number of shots connecting, that actually worked out to be around 30% more punches per round. That is quite a big difference.

But personally I think it is better to watch the fight, as averaging punches is misleading.

I completely agree with the rest of what you said.
Averaging punches is misleading, yes. But that is exactly the spin you are putting on it to show Fury's advantage. He landed one punch per round more throughout the fight according to compubox, and threw about 100 less. Do you give any credit to the busier fighter or the one that landed the most effective punches?

So yes, just watch the fight. People that are fans of Wilder will skew things his way, and vice-versa. I hope the rematch ends in a KO, so there are no sour grapes, punch stats, etc. It will be an ugly fight no doubt until the end, which I hope is round 1.

I couldn't agree more. Using average punch stats for a contest that is scored round-by-round is an abstraction too far. As you correctly point out, it is merely a way of supporting narrative, and isn't really analysis that says much of anything.

I put forward a counter-narrative, and (as you highlighted) I admitted as much.

As you say, let's look forward to the rematch!

It's certainly important and needs to be settled. Hard to look forward to it too much, it will suck. Though it will at least have drama waiting for something to happen.

I find Fury's fights intriguing. He's very good at winning rounds by an inch or two. But you never know if he can stay switched on to get the job done.

I cannot believe that he can concentrate for 12 rounds. Though he had the better of the rounds he got knocked down in too.

Wilder's right hand at the weekend was one of the great shots in heavyweight history. I don't see Fury being switched on enough to avoid it for the whole fight. The ref will be important.
