Is there some confusion between these two records. 622243 & 441620

Basham posted that Cliff was also known as Seaman and fought Phil Green. On Boxrec we have a seperate Seman Atkey who it says is Cliff's brother and he has the Phil Green fight on his record.

Miles Templeton has Cliff Atkey as having 10 fights and Seaman Atkey 25 fights

Seaman Atkey and Cliff Atkey were not the same person. They will have been related but they are different people.

In your record for Cliff Atkey you are showing a contest dated July 16 1932 which should be for Seaman Atkey.

I didn't know about Seaman Atkey's contests in South Africa and so thank you for that.

When one of you gets the time could you correct something that appears on BoxRec and it drives me nuts. York Hall, Bethnal Green, is showing as the venue for some pre war events and this is wrong. The first ever professional show at York Hall was in 1967

These are the dates that need to be corrected :

Aug 9 1934 - correct to Bethnal Green Drill Hall

Nov 7 1935 - correct to Bethnal Green Drill Hall

I actually have the original handbills for both of these events and so there is no doubt whatsoever about it

Thanks Miles. Much appreciated.
We have several active Welsh boxers listed named Tom Thomas from around that period, one from Deri, one from Merthyr, one from Treherbert and one from Taibach, and now the Tylorstown man whom I've added to the list.
Appreciate it's a slippery slope but do you have any idea if our Tylorstown man might require bracketing with one of the others of the same name.

I will certainly help with this. One thing I have had to do, in order to sort out Welsh records, is to thoroughly understand the geography of the valleys. Treherbert and Taibach, for instance, being miles apart.

It really helps when you understand the relationship between towns and villages and, more importantly, individual valleys.

How did you hear about my trip? Kept it quiet but very excited. A working trip so I will have plenty to do, and plenty to get right.

I currently have Tom Thomas of Tylorstown as having 2 contests, one against Cliff Atkey. I have thirteen Welshmen with this name for which I have separate records. Some of them may need amalgamating but I am not sure. Welcome to the sharp end of record compiling! It is not easy. I would very definitely keep him apart from the others.
