Team Riddick Bowe reveal Startling Lennox Lewis offer

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

WBN continues to detail an incredible interview with members of former undisputed heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe’s prominent team.

Eli Karabell and Dale Peeples spent time speaking to WBN recently, outlining startling plans for Bowe to fight a series of twelve rounders at the age of 52.

Targeting a deal with Eddie Hearn or Al Haymon, Karabell believes Bowe can get back in fighting shape. That he CAN compete in the sport once again.

‘Big Daddy’ hasn’t fought in the boxing ring since 2008. Bowe has had well-publicized financial issues away from competing professionally.

In 2020, Bowe’s representatives are hoping to land a deal which will see the American legend back in action at the top level.

RIDDICK BOWE vs LENNOX LEWIS

This comes after Karabell detailed failed attempts to lure former rival Lennox Lewis out of retirement.

Famously trashing the WBC title instead of facing Lewis during the 1990’s, Bowe is now ready to end the saga once and for all.

“We want to fight Lennox Lewis. We entered negotiations with them to attempt a fight but they broke down when Lennox’s manager asked to not call her anymore,” Karabell exclusively revealed to World Boxing News.

“They text saying they wanted $100m for the fight and that my number was blocked. I would be tempted to negotiate a fight with Lennox (himself) as well.

“The last text I had with them (Violet Chang) was on November 13th. It went on for a little while and I then got told I would be blocked.

“I ended the messages with, ‘Team Bowe will be in touch’ but she is saying I’m not part of his team. But maybe Eddie (Hearn of Matchroom Boxing) could host it in Saudi Arabia?”

Peeples added: “Absolutely (Bowe vs Lewis could happen), Eddie could title it ‘Unfinished Business.’”

The mention of Hearn comes after a previous article with WBN stating the Essex promoter was their first port of call for Bowe’s return.

Karabell and Peeples have singled out Hearn and Haymon as two they would like to speak to regarding taking Bowe on for a final ring run.

HOLYFIELD

It seems exhibitions are not the priority despite Bowe’s age as WBN concluded this part of the chat by asking about a fourth fight with Evander Holyfield.

‘The Real Deal’ had previously spoked to WBN the week prior regarding his own efforts to make the fight a reality.

“I wanted to do it (an exhibition) with Riddick Bowe,” Holyfield exclusively told World Boxing News. “We’re friends. And the kind of money they’re talking about it would be pretty good for three rounds.”

He added: “Yes, I can do that (Holyfield vs Bowe IV). I’m ready!”

On the prospect of Bowe vs Holyfield IV in a three or four-round capacity, Karabell gave the notion a frosty reception.

“I won’t comment about that. But I will say that those negotiations are at a standstill.

“Me and Holyfield’s manager Chester have been speaking on some of these matters. There hasn’t been any agreement on numbers so far,” he stated.

Does anyone really care about Bowe anymore? Nothing will ever change my mind about Chicken Bowe ducking Lewis. He threw the WBC belt in the trash FFS.

Bowe shouldn't fight or have people around him who are just seeing him as easy money.

Brrr... Hate this side of the business side.

Here's what happened. Bowe was getting his butt and then his balls kicked by Golata
for two straight fights and then Golata gets KTFO in the first round by Lewis and Bowe
was afraid and quit.
Had Bowe done better or Lewis worse, they would have fought. And Lewis would have won.
Fighting now would just be dumb.

Riddick "Big Daddy" Bowe RULES!! He was 38-1 with 2 wins over Evander Holyfield. His only pro loss was the BS "fan man" fight.

they not gonna fight. no commision in the world gonna give bowe a license.

he's slurring like lights out and has the reflexes and speed of a mummy on tranquilizers.

bowe was my favourite boxer growing up. his fights up to holyfield were not televised in my country so just his picture & the sound of his name alone was the embodiment of cool to me.

tyson was that invincible monster in the opinion of all the teenage boys. i felt like some expert when i brought up bowe's name as to who would have a chance against iron mike.

i hadn't seen him fight even a full round.🤣 just short clips of him on tv in the pre fight reports of tyson fights.

to this day he's one of my all time favourite heavyweights. in his short cut prime he would've been a big big problem for everyone in history.

to say bowe was afraid of lewis is just ridiculous. absolute nonsense.

I like Riddick Bowe and I think he could have been a great if he'd stayed disciplined.

He needs saved from himself though. He made a comeback a number of years back and looked old then let alone now

It's bloody tragic what has happened to Riddick, a desperate man, with scrambled egg for brains looking for a fight with people happily retired, or rather surrounded by people who want to milk the last cent out of him.

It reminds me of the stories about Iran Barkley, begging Don King to get him a fight at Canestota IBHOF.

Bowe had all the tools, except the most important one, discipline. Eddie futch said he was the most naturally gited fighter he ever worked with, and whilst you can take that with a little pinch of salt perhaps, he certainly had a great range of skills for a big man, great jab, combination punching, a good engine, and superlative inside work, but he just couldn't keep it together between fights. He would blow up like a baloon between fights then kill himself to get in shape.

It was clear by the time he fought Golota, his punch resistance had pretty much gone. Only his heart kept him in those fights, and he took a tonne of punishment, anybody who hasn't watched those fights should watch them he was already done by then.

The 3rd fight with Holyfield was one of the strangest fights I've ever seen, both men clearly had serious issues. Holyfield was out on his feet after dropping Bowe, and didn't even have the energy to put him away.

"Here's what happened" ?

That's not even close to what happened. Bowe threw the belt in the trash FIVE YEARS before that all happened.

Lennox beat Bowe in the Olympics for the gold in 1988 and when Bowe became champ in 1992 he didn't want to fight him for whatever reason. Not because he wasn't good enough or Lewis "too good", I think it was his team that wanted to milk his status as champ without risking a loss.

It would have been a great fight at the time, as Bowe was great at his peak. Whatever the case, by the time of the two Golota fights and Lewis's KO of Golota, Bowe was a shell of his former self, with massive weight gain issues and no more desire to fight. He essentially retired at age 28, and didn't fight again for 8 years.

It would have been a great fight in 1993, a terrible fight in 1998, and would be a pathetic sight today.

I've read where they were close to a deal but then Lewis lost to McCall.
