Bravery
Turns out that the nutjob today was tackled by members of the public, in a show of bravery.
Many years ago, I was with a mate of mine, who got robbed by three young street kids, I ran in to help him because I was pissed and It seemed to spark my sense of injustice, I went wading in and clumped one of them and ended up getting a bit of a kicking, though not that bad, whilst my mate ran off like a whipped dog, instead of standing his ground.
I'm not usually very brave, and certainly not keen on a fight, it was just one of those moments, and I suspect those people today probably had no idea they would act as they did.
I remember watching a documentary about decorated servicemen, who put themselves in ridiculous levels of danger, and they said that in that moment, they acted without thinking at all.
I guess my point is, that bravery doesn't really exist, only action.,

Re: Bravery
I think people, especially in London are so fcuked off with these nut jobs they just get together and think right let’s give him a fcuking hiding, it’s sad but it’s becoming normalised, I’d like to think I’d join in, weather I would or not I wouldn’t know until it happened.
Re: Bravery
I once went ahead with a guy with a rambo type knife. I was stabbed in the stomach badly and also the arm twice, behind my ear, my head and a slash on my hand where i grabbed the blade! I was a total mess. was in ICU, needed blood then later physiotherapy etc... That wasn't bravery at all. I was just literally nuts! I wasn't scared of anyone and i didn't give two fukks what happened to me either! Nowadays i have kids and i'm a nice enough dude etc... Back then i couldn't care less about anyone, especially myself!
Re: Bravery
Where i grew up we all knew who the arseholes with the blades were... There were loads of em as well lol. I genuinely hate all that crap! My dad was in intensive care for like 6/7 months and nearly died etc.. That daftness nearly ruined my youth! Nearly took my dad! People need to get a grip man!Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑29 Nov 2019, 23:18 I think people, especially in London are so fcuked off with these nut jobs they just get together and think right let’s give him a fcuking hiding, it’s sad but it’s becoming normalised, I’d like to think I’d join in, weather I would or not I wouldn’t know until it happened.

That’s mad mate! You could of been killed! I think having kids makes you really change, not go soft, but you have to keep yourself alive for them so you think about consequences more, what happened to the guy who did it?Stuarty wrote: ↑29 Nov 2019, 23:19 I once went ahead with a guy with a rambo type knife. 'Being a coward' is underrated. Running away 'like a bitch' and protecting yourself will allow you to make more of a difference in people's lives than being killed will

Re: Bravery
I agree with that, but if I saw some poor innocent sod getting stabbed and I ran away and left them, I think I’d struggle to sleep at night.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑29 Nov 2019, 23:32 'Being a coward' is underrated. Ju made a me i was a hero , then deleted it because theres probably been times when i've not been a hero and should of been , , so i think it really goes oin what the brains telling you to do at that time
Re: Bravery
There's a fine line between bravery and lunacy, I see it every year as young men and women blast around the Isle of Man at close to 200mph, some of us think of how brave these people are, they'd probably have been fighter pilots in the 1940's whereas others will think - what the f*ck are these lunatics doing, don't they care about themselves?
Adrenaline has a funny effect on the body, to some of us it gives us confidence and bravery, to others it's "f*ck that for a laugh I'm out of here"

Re: Bravery
I think about 9/11 sometimes, the fourth plane. I know it’s a bit different because the people didn’t have the option of running away. Still, to me they were brave. And they stopped the hijackers using the plane as a weapon.

Yes, but not all of them display valour in the field.

Joshua Leakey, a British paratrooper ran into oncoming fire to save the life of a seriously injured United States Marine, he got the VC for that.

It's been proven scientifically, that some people dont have the normal response to adrenalin, as a result they need much larger surges of it to feel anything.banjo wrote: ↑30 Nov 2019, 03:42 There's a fine line between bravery and lunacy, I see it every year as young men and women blast around the Isle of Man at close to 200mph, some of us think of how brave these people are, they'd probably have been fighter pilots in the 1940's whereas others will think - what the f*ck are these lunatics doing, don't they care about themselves?

Re: Bravery
Always fishy.
Elections about to come up. Suddenly, there’s. Terrorist in London? I thought they don’t normally shoot if there’s a vest involved in case it blows up? At the time they can’t have known it’s fake.. then they plaster his face, the next day knowing his name so quick on the front page of everything. He has the most terrorist look to him as well.
He can rot in hell for all I care. Whatever harm he has caused. Did any victims die?

Shooting them dead is standard procedure.
And they know him because they let him out with a tag on, he'd done 8 years for plotting to bomb the stock exchange.

What really annoys me is people who are proud not to be "grasses". If you've a bloke in your neighborhood who is making everyone's life a misery by robbing, beating and threatening folk - show some guts and get him put away by testifying against him.
Re: Bravery
Yeah I've never understood that bollocks either
"I don't grass me"
We're not in a Guy Ritchie film we're in real life with real f*cking victims.
Re: Bravery
I just read about him in wiki. He went back for a machine gun too. That’s hugely courageous. Nine times out of ten he‘d have been killed.
Re: Bravery
Couple of VC owners actually have bars, which is mental when you think about what you have to do to earn one.
I went to see the Ashcroft collection at the IWM, it's pretty sobering when you walk round and read the award citations.
