Dillian Whyte cleared by UKAD
Dillian Whyte has been cleared by UK Anti-Doping.
The British heavyweight has maintained his innocence amid claims of an "adverse finding" surrounding his points win over Oscar Rivas in July, and UKAD have now completely ruled out any wrongdoing by the 31-year-old.
A statement from UKAD read: "UK Anti-Doping and the professional boxer, Dillian Whyte, can today jointly confirm that Mr Whyte was charged with an anti-doping rule violation (ADRV) earlier this year, but that this charge has now been withdrawn.
"The charge was brought after a sample provided by Mr Whyte on 20 June 2019 indicated the presence of two metabolites of a steroid. UKAD initiated an investigation with which Mr Whyte cooperated fully. UKAD has accepted the explanation provided by Mr Whyte and, in accordance with the UK Anti-Doping Rules, the charge against Mr Whyte has been withdrawn.
"This would ordinarily mean that UKAD would not make any public statement, in accordance with the applicable confidentiality rules to which UKAD is subject. However, since certain confidential information relating to this matter (including the fact of the initial charge) has unfortunately made its way into the public domain, UKAD and Mr Whyte have agreed to take the unusual step of releasing the following limited information to put an end to speculation concerning Mr Whyte's status."
The news comes 24 hours before Whyte fights Mariusz Wach on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's rematch against Andy Ruiz Jr, live on Sky Sports Box Office, with main event ring-walks set for 8.45pm.
Whyte's status as mandatory challenger for defeating Rivas had been suspended by the WBC, but the governing body has suggested he could receive a guaranteed WBC title shot by February 2021, if the situation was resolved.

Re: Dillian Whyte cleared by UKAD
Is there any information yet on how the metabolites got into his system?
As cynical as I am, I am inclined to accept that he is innocent (if such a thing exists) of wrong doing.
UKAD don't tend to give these types of statements as a rule and there is no mention of backdated bans or anything like that.

Re: Dillian Whyte cleared by UKAD
Anyone else find it dodgy that UKAD clears him the day before he boxes again.
All this time they could have cleared him and they do it the day before his ring return,

The whole thing is dodgy. Would like to have an explanation of what Dill's explanation was. At least it's over. He's free to fight. Will always be a question for me anyway.Nondescript wrote: ↑06 Dec 2019, 14:54 Anyone else find it dodgy that UKAD clears him the day before he boxes again.

There's nothing here we don't already know. We just want to know what reason or reasons did Whyte give UKAD to have cleared him to fight Rivas.Nondescript wrote: ↑06 Dec 2019, 14:54 Anyone else find it dodgy that UKAD clears him the day before he boxes again.

They cleared him months ago.

Good to see an innocent man cleared
Re: Dillian Whyte cleared by UKAD
He had traces of Dianabol in his system.keirw wrote: ↑06 Dec 2019, 14:15 Is there any information yet on how the metabolites got into his system?

I am no expert but this comes in tablets and is old school gear often taken by doormen in the 90’s
Re: Dillian Whyte cleared by UKAD
I just don't see the purpose of ukad going forward.
They clearly don't have the teeth or the cash to make any failed tests stick when they're up against anyone with any cash backing.
Just seems like a pointless existence?

Re: Dillian Whyte cleared by UKAD
The whole statement leaves more questions than answers:
What was Whyte's explanation? What happened to strict liability? What was contaminated? - Was it the sample after testing? Was it something Whyte had taken? If it was the testing does that open the door to every positive test now being called into question? If the sample it's self was contaminated then surely the B sample should have been opened?
Took UKAD ages to conclude on Bacurin and Martin, yet this was conveniently closed a day before Whyte fights whilst leaving so many unanswered questions.
Also have UKAD basically over-ruled WADA? Who have Metandienone on a "PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES" list?

- Similar to the Ryan Martin case, but clearly show there was something in the sample. The levels of the metabolites found in Mr Whyte's 20 June 2019 sample were extremely low.
- So how long does it take to come out of the system? Could it have been ingested after the test on June 17th with the assumption he wouldn't be tested 3 days later?Mr Whyte had provided a urine sample to VADA on 17 June 2019, i.e. 3 days before his 20 June 2019 sample, which was tested by a WADA-accredited laboratory and which returned a negative result, including for the metabolites in question.
- What were the dates of these? When did UKAD next test him? If the tests weren't done again until July it sort of invalidates this pointMr Whyte provided several other doping control samples to UKAD and VADA between 20 June and 20 July 2019 (i.e. the date of his fight with Oscar Rivas) – all of which also tested negative.

The entire thing is dodgy, but the more interesting thing is that this could of happened 50 times last year an just nothing being leaked.
ukads system dosent seem great. but its better than no system like most of the world. people get mad when highly tested fighters test positive, but then assume minimally tested fighters are clean.

Re: Dillian Whyte cleared by UKAD
Does this mean he's officially a mandatory now, for either Wilder or Fury?

Hes the mandatory for February 2021. That's been decided at the wbc convention pending clearance from ukad.
Ukad cleared Whyte. So there is no excuse for the fight to not go through February of 2021.
Honestly I hope Wilder agrees to face him this coming summer

Has the ukad ever stopped a fight for a failed test? Or do they always just extort the fighters til they're clean?

I'm not a Whyte fan at all, but he's done nothing wrong. Some of the conspiracy theories on here are absolutely laughable.

The only part I don't understand is why they cleared him the day before his fight.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑07 Dec 2019, 10:43 I'm not a Whyte fan at all, but he's done nothing wrong. Some of the conspiracy theories on here are absolutely laughable.
They could have cleared him at any point since July and for some reason they decide to do it the day before he chooses to fight again.
Look at how long it took for the Fury situation so be cleared up, took forever.
