Ali vs Foreman was somewhat different than Fury vs Wilder. Fury got up, and still did his best, and still wanted to make it the distance believing he'd outboxed his opponent. Foreman got up a beaten man, and had no desire to continue honestly. You can see it in his body language.
He gets up at 9 I think. Foreman that is, but when the referee waves it off he just walks back to his corner, and doesn't utter a word of complaint. He was beaten.
Foreman was more fatigued than me on a nyquil cannabis concoction.
The count you hear in the Ali-Foreman fight was bogus. No debate on Foreman's condition and his snowball chance of hell of winning if the fight had continued. But it looked to me that GF was up a fraction of a second late. Easy to find and time on youtube.
It's a moot point really. The fight was over. If he had gone on, he'd have only gone on for a minute or so tops, and he'd have gone right back down again. The only difference is MAYBE it becomes a 9th round KO for Ali instead of an 8th round KO...but that'd be the only thing that could've possibly changed even if Foreman had been allowed to fight on from there.
The only reason I even leave the option of him possibly making it to the 9th is it seemed like it was late in the 8th round when he went down right? If there was a solid minute or so of time left in the 8th no way he survives it.

But Ali won by KO, not TKO. The fight was not stopped. No debate on Foreman's condition. I just brought it up with Chuvalo-Quarry as examples of close calls as to whether the fighter beat the count.

Is there a guy who stood with his back at a 45 degree angle for like five seconds? Or do you mean the split-second image of Fury that you can see by pausing a video, but that in real time was just part of him standing up?
Fury just plain got up and went back to work. It's silly that some people can't let go of it. A much more questionable recent "beating the count" was Donaire's against Inoue. That was some nonsense.

Gloves off the canvass and feet under a fighter and he's up.

Almost everyone agrees the OP's 7 subject words are incorrect.
This is meaningless. he beat the count. thats his job.
you dont think the speed of the count influences the speed boxers get up at. 90% of boxers stand up on the 9 count, weather it takes 8 or 12 seconds to get to a 9 count still 90% would stand up on the 9 count.
Fury got up and got the better of Wilder in the 12th. No controversy. He was paying attention to the ref's count. The clock is meaningless.
I thought it was the right call as well. I understand that if someone bet the house on a Wilder KO, they'd be upset though.
Having said that, IF, the ref had said he didn't beat the count, it wouldn't be the most controversial thing I've ever seen.
I lost 2 grand on wilder by ko and I wasn't upset at all by the count, disappointed my miracle didn't land but nothing wrong with the count. Nothing would have been wrong if he waved it off without one either.

You're more mature than I am. When I lose $ on a fight I go into a 2 day druinken rage screaming at anyone who will listen that the fight was fixed.

I've won enough money on shitty decisions to take it in stride. The two exceptions were Whitaker/Chavez where I had money with like 50 people in a bar +a big bookie bet and hearns/Leonard 2 (which was more fan than money) when I smashed the chair in front of me at the cc venue.
