Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr hit by rain storms in the desert ahead of rematch

The heavyweight rematch between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr could be affected by rain storms in the desert.

The heavens opened seven hours before the ring walks are due to take place at the purpose-build, open-air 15,000-capacity arena in Saudi Arabia.

The weather will not affect the fight itself as it is protected by a canopy but it could wreck havoc for spectators, particularly those in the plush VIP section.

Thunderstorms are forecast for the early evening but should subside as the fights begin.

While Joshua tipped the scales at 16 stone 13lbs - 10 pounds lighter than for their first fight in June - Ruiz has piled on more than a stone to tip the scales at 20 stone 3lbs.

Fact
Ruiz is the second-heaviest defending champion in heavyweight history, behind only the 7ft Russian Nikolai Valuev.

Why has Majidov taken so damn long to turn pro. Could have been an absolute beast in the division .

I know these are only prelim fights but i have a feeling the main event the crowd will be as dull as a wet winter Sunday afternoon.

A lot of Joshua's Muslim supporters have flown out too.. I'm guessing their plan is, watch the fight tonight, then head of to Makkah, to perform the pilgrimage.

When I saw Mahammadrasul Majidov had only had one fight couldn't figure out what was going on here until I saw Majidov's amateur record. And at 33 he's obviously a heavy in a hurry.
