Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
I'm against the 3rd bout, because I find Joshua's win more convincing than his loss. The 1st bout was more or less competetive, Joshua won the early rounds, dropped Ruiz, but then did a mistake and got crushed for it. In the 2nd bout Joshua was heavily improved and totally outboxed Ruiz. Andy did almost nothing in the rematch. From what we've seen, the 3rd fight will look just like the 2nd one. Joshua will never let it become a brawl again, while Ruiz won't outbox him.
Re: Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
Why another fucck boring fight !! You think AJ will fight not scared like today ?
Re: Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
AJ changed his style and it worked well. It’s hard to do that, so fair play to him.
Re: Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
Taking nothing away from AJs great performance, Ruiz doesn’t deserve a third fight. Who knows if he had lost weight whether things would be different however you have to criticise him for it - knowing that he knew Joshua would be boxing him.
The balls in Andy’s court as to where he goes from here. How dedicated is he? He now has ample retirement funds however his fame and legacy take a hit.
Many people believed Joshua was mentally broken yet Andy clearly wasn’t able to handle the riches and spotlight and stay dedicated. Again, it’s up to him where he goes from here. Joshua had the character to rebound - can Ruiz?

Andy is going to take the money and run. He had a good run and is set for life if he doesn't waist it.

You wanna shot, you need to earn it. That is on Ruiz's table now. He got a name, but needs some solid names on the resumé to keep in himself relevant.
Wilder would have target practice on Ruiz if he can't move enough.

I was suprised how fat Ruiz was. He actually gained weight/fat and thought it was a good thing. He can box but he has issues. No need for a rematch.
Re: Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
very true. he has fatty issues. i dont think he thought it was a good idea, but just enjoyed himself, eat what he want, like we all do.
ruiz has to earn a re-match after that. he has the talend to be no.1 but has to put it all together.
Re: Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
This feels like a match-up that could go back and forth, depending on who is more motivated.
In fight #3, maybe Ruiz gets down to 250-260 and sparks Joshua... He was clearly too fat to chase Joshua around.

Re: Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
Not right now. Give 'em a year to fight other people, and let's see where they're at after that. If AJ is able to get by one of the other big dogs of the division, I'd have no issue with a rubber match happening then. I don't really feel like watching a 3rd fight between the two of them while we're still waiting for a clear cut #1 guy of the division though.
Re: Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
Having pulled the biggest upset since Douglas/Tyson will keep him a relevant name on other fighters records for at least 2 or 3 more years I figure.
The entire PBC roster is still available to him. I'd love a matchup between him and Ortiz or him and Kownacki. Jarrell Miller might be interesting too.
No shortage of interesting fights for him still.

Re: Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
Ruiz fought with zero passion, and showed he didn't care when coming in way over weight. Joshua only improves from this point forward. I don't want to see this fight again soon, I want to see Joshua vs Wilder first, Then Tyson Fury, Then Usyk.
Re: Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
Agreed I just wanna see AJ mix with the other guys at the top, and Ruiz mix with the other contenders for now.victor-romeo wrote: ↑07 Dec 2019, 21:08 Ruiz fought with zero passion, and showed he didn't care when coming in way over weight. Had Ruiz come into the fight in good shape and lost, maybe a third fight. BUT, who believes he would work harder for a trilogy? Not me. Let Ruiz fight Ortiz or one of the other contenders.
Re: Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
I wanna see Ruiz fight the other contenders because that right there will eliminate the need for a 3rd fight. He won't beat the Ortiz's and the Povetkin's and the Usyk's of the division.
He beats Kownacki. A fight between him and Miller is 50/50 to me, and I'd lean toward Miller.
He's a one hit wonder.
Re: Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
Ruiz didn't fight like a contender tonight. He didn't seem to want it. If he came out and fought like a man who wanted a rematch then id back it! He hasn't though!
Re: Is there a need in Joshua-Ruiz III?
Discipline. His lack of it ruined any chance of his skills being maximised. Nothing to hint at his being able to turn that around. Squandered promise. Other posters were right in saying that before the first AJ fight, he never met his potential. Just heard his 'excuse' that he didn't train hard enough. Duh! I can't forgive that with a fighter.gilgamesh wrote: ↑07 Dec 2019, 21:34I wanna see Ruiz fight the other contenders because that right there will eliminate the need for a 3rd fight. If you can't get motivated for a multi million dollar World title fight. "I'll do better next time" has no credibility. It don't get no bigger than this, and it wasn't important enough for you to care this time. So back of the line fatso.oogiebe wrote: ↑07 Dec 2019, 21:39Discipline. Exactly. If nothing else, AJ outprepped him. By a mile.gilgamesh wrote: ↑07 Dec 2019, 21:43If you can't get motivated for a multi million dollar World title fight.
