What about him? That guy was no where to be found.

I think once the weigh-in occured most of us who picked RUiz had second thoughts. I stuck to my (wrong) prediction but very hesitantly. 283 was a shocker.
That actually pissed me off a little. I wasn't bothered that Ruiz was fat and won the title. But to gain even more weight in the rematch just seemed disrespectful. Especially compared to the serious changes AJ made in his preparations for this fight.
Can't agree more. Very disappointing indeed! You'd think these blokes would learn from history, but NOOOOOOO!!!!!

PUGLET wrote: 03 Dec 2019, 15:58 I picked Ruiz in the first fight..... he’s gonna win by KNOCKOUT again. Simply put, regardless of athletic talent or gifts, RUIZ is the superior fighter and boxer. In terms of experience and ring craft, AJ is essentially a novice in comparison to Ruiz. ONLY in the heavyweight division does this type of scenario take place.... Do you think that after less than 20 amateur fights does AJ become a National champion, let alone an Olympic Gold medallist in any division other than Heavyweight?.... NOT A FREAKING CHANCE.
I’m NOT saying that AJ wasn’t a decent, exceptionally strong athlete that “played” very well at “BOXING”. Now that he’s been knocked out and essentially quit.... he has ZERO CHANCE. Further to which, he has slimmed down and done body weight calisthenics to COMPLETELY eliminate the one advantage he had... which was EXPLOSIVE, natural athletic power, which translated to a “heavy handed” kind of knockout power. Something which only translates to KO power in the heavyweight division. Lighter weight fighters have to cut weight and therefore get in better shape and have more reliable chins than heavyweights, (at least at the elite levels of the sport.)
So, essentially, AJ’s coaches have listened to the criticisms of boxing media and pundits... and done EXACTLY the opposite of what they needed to do to in order for him to have a chance at winning the rematch. As a result, AJ will be slimmer, less powerful AND SLOWER as a result of his “refined” strength and conditioning work. All of this was done in terms of them hoping that he either wouldn’t gas or would suddenly have some natural ability to suddenly not be as robotic or actually have some natural flow to his punches or “actual” natural fighting ability. Only a time machine creates that scenario.
As soon as Ruiz feels how less strong and slower AJ feels to him.... he’s gonna walk him down and walk right through him, AJ is going to take a career-ending beating and be knocked out in rounds 5 or 6. It’s gonna be UGLY.... you heard it here first. Just like last time.

Normally, I would’ve kept my analysis to myself (cuz i’m trying to move up the PTBF scoreboard), but I’m STRONGLY considering starting a YouTube channel with fight predictions and analysis and working at conveying my thoughts without being too overly offensive. So tired of listening to semi brain-dead Mayweathers and punch drunk ex-fighters give insights and predictions about fights. If you pay attention, there are 3/4 fairly well-respected coaches whom ARE ALWAYS WRONG. IT IS MIND-BOGGLNG.
So, it was a little bit different.............
lol....yes, but that being said, i’ve gotta watch again..... i’m still trying to figure out exactly what I just witnessed. There was no “fight”.... just a “boxing match” with multitudes and multitudes of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
No hard punches, no “real pressure”, no discomfort, they were both as fresh as a daisy afterwards and completely unscathed.

I’m fairly discombobulated right now..... :maybe:

Ruiz Jr. wins the round due to trying to make the fight rather than break it.

Joshua one round up.
One round up? I've got it 6-1 AJ. No idea what fight you're watching. Not a tough fight to score.
Come on man, first rule of boxrec, don’t pay attention to EO.

Great win by AJ his stamina and reach carried him to victory, AJ has flaws but has guts to get in with the guy who KO'd him 6 months earlier my hats off to Joshua, and shame on Andy Ruiz coming in 16 pounds heavier than last time..

I’ve picked 27/34 on PTBF so far this year, and yes, I was wrong about this one. That doesn’t mean I still can’t be perplexed by the lack of “anything” in the fight.
Further to which, my DFTP is off the charts..... not that any of this means anything other than I feel like o have some insight and expertise to share with other boxing nerds on the forum.... and I’m not afraid to SHARE my views in a fun, NON-HATING manner with other dudes on the forum.

So, again Mr BLOWE.... demonstrate to me how smart you are, about fight predictions? What insight and expertise do you offer? Ever won any big cash betting on fights.?

Or.... if you just wanna be a “straight up C**T” and express some ANGER and HATE towards my lame opining..... go right ahead. The forum can be a “safe space” for you to let it out.

It just may be a simple answer. AJ executed the perfect gameplan against a Ruiz who wasn't dedicated to his craft. AJ won. Maybe more to say that Ruiz lost. Neither came out of this fight any better in my mind. Maybe Ruiz dropped back to earth as other posters insisted he wasn't that good before he beat AJ. Maybe they were simply correct.

It's simple AJ was up 2-0x3 and scored a kd in the first fight, then rushed in carelessly and got caught and never recovered. People said it wasn't just a 1 punch KO but really that one punch totally turned the fight

Boxing to orders, AJ won very very easily today. He deserves credit for coming back and boxing smart and actually patient

Hey, we all make mistakes. Yes, I have made big money on fights but I’ve also been willing to come back and discuss the ones where I was wrong. You just seemed pretty sure of yourself with this prediction, but hey I’ve been guilty of that too, so all good. No hard feelings .

Does anyone out there think the ref was quick to seperate the fighters? Hardly ever allowed them to fight their way out...I know not too many refs allow infighting anymore but he was quick to break em up...not an excuse for Ruiz by any means who looked and fought like butterbean...

Same referee that let the tape go on Ruiz glove for a round that could have caused a cut.
Same referee that was slow to the jump when Ruiz fouled Joshua during cliches because he couldn't get a clean shot from the outside.
That referee ?
