10 was a clear Mcgregor round but with the point off it must go down as a 9-9 round ,
I agree with the other rounds you have him
.4/5/you could argue where his rounds also. ?

Great fight, would have loved to have been thereH ave to s ay I was baffled by the scoring. Farooq was landing many more clean power shots, which is important in pro boxing. Remember, if you're old enough, how Leonard robbed Hagler, with his flurries of little powder-puff punches in the closing 20 seconds of every round, as opposed to the serious leather that Hagler was landing. Leaping off the ground to throw a jab is not illegal. Of great champions both Hagler and Marciano did it very effectively. Look up the work on Youtube by the great analyst LeeWylie who talks about it. B TW, both Farooq and McGregor show great potential but some way to go to being truly world-class. Just my opinion, of course.

I was all for Kash in this fight. His style being my favourite. Yet what I seen was Lee as landing the heavier more effective head shots in a good few rounds and this will have swayed the judges. I didn’t see much powderpuff shoeshining from him at all. Couple of the folk who were with me had McGregor edging it. You could hear the skelp and this from McGregors punches.

I had Kash but it was a close battle defo. Lee did use his weight to tire Kash but the reason he came back into the fight was finding his timing for uppercuts as Kash dipped. In the later rounds we could see it coming as Kash dipped the same way after throwing his punches and got caught by four or five absolute crackers over the later rounds that had his legs dipping. It slowed him down a bit but didn’t deter him as he has an abundance of heart and obviously great endurance. Same as Lee. Some of the rounds where Farooq feinted McGregor to the ropes to body shot him was fantastic to see watch. Kash was talking to him and making faces to throw Lee off. Both class acts.

McGregor Open To Farooq Rematch In Edinburgh For European

Lee McGregor is already of the mindset that a rematch with Kash Farooq would sell.

The Edinburgh fighter, 22, took on his Glasgow rival at a packed Emirates Arena last Saturday and headed back up the M8 with a controversial split decision victory and a British bantamweight title to add to the Commonwealth honour he already holds.

McGregor met Farooq, who scored three knockouts to win the Lonsdale belt prior to meeting ‘Lightning’, on Saturday night, live on iFL TV, ESPN+ and BBC Scotland.

And after getting the win on scorecards of 114-113, 113-114 and 115-112, McGregor’s attention has already been turned to a return against the Pakistan-born puncher.

“What an unbelievable night,” McGregor wrote on social media shortly after the fight. “I went into Farooq’s back yard to fight the champion after just seven fights.

“[It was an] absolutely unreal fight from start to finish [and] credit to Kash Farooq and his team.

“[There has been] so many different opinions on the fight –– I think we can all agree the 115-112 card was maybe a bit wide, especially with the point off –– and I think people need to forget how wide the scoring was and [remember] how good and close a fight us two young champions put on.”

Farooq had long been regarded as one of the best-kept secrets of Scottish boxing but even in defeat the 23-year-old proved that he belongs at the upper echelons of at least the domestic level in the bantamweight division.

But McGregor, coached by Grant Smith at the Steel City gym in Sheffield, is now targeting a shot at the European title before a potential second showdown –– and he thinks it could do even bigger numbers than the sold-out first meeting.

“I obviously have to sit down with my team and see what’s next but I really would love to go on and challenge for the European title,” added McGregor.

Frenchman Georges Ory is the current custodian of the blue belt and is in action next Saturday when he defends the title against former king Karim Guerfi at Saint-Nazaire's Salle la Soucoupe in Loire-Atlantique in France.

would be more than happy to bring that belt back to Scotland and make the first defence against Kash,” McGregor concluded. “[We could] have another huge fight in Scotland. This time, let’s maybe come to Edinburgh and sell out [the home of Heart of Midlothian Football Club, which McGregor supports] Tynecastle Park!”

Farooq outclassed him in their fight and will do so again in the rematch. He will probably get robbed again.

I'd say Farooq outworked McGregor, he didn't outclass him. McGregor fundamentally looks the classier of the two imo. I had Kash winning but i didn't think it was a total robbery...

Farooq looked more technically sound and relaxed to me. McG was jittery and helter skelter, but he had faster hands and that allowed him to land with some big potshots as it got late on. The uppercuts especially worked well. Kash's defense seemed to unravel a bit late, though I still thought he did enough in the first 8-9.

Kash head movement and judgement of distance was excellent and is always improving... His variety is very good as well. McGregor has a very good jab and works well off the jab. I agree McGregor was nervy until later on and Kash didn't let him settle. I'd like to see it again but i'd rather see both in with international gatekeeper types next up to see how they look...

McGregor got away with too much holding and would have got punished more if the ref had done a better job. McGregor came into it a bit towards the end due to Kash tiring but Kash outclassed him for me and is the better fighter of the two by far. I would call it a robbery.

Not one judge has Kash winning. But everyone else seems to have him winning the fight. Whilst many called it close, which it maybe was towards the end, it should have been a close but clear win for Kash. Scotland’s biggest fight in a decade and this happens.

I was in the minority that had McGregor nicking it.
Both looked class.
Both should finish way above British level.
I’d like this one to brew a bit and hopefully rematch for either European/World title down the line.
My concern is that McGregor could end up going up the weight divisions quickly and the rematch will never happen.
He’s a big lad and still growing.

Great fight. Hope the Scottish lads on here enjoyed it.

Hopefully if he does go ahead and sign with Matchroom it'll mean some more shows up this neck of the woods. Kash is deffo popular enough.

Yeh, after Ricky Burns, who else is there? Apart from Ritson, but he's not Scottish.

We have a few coming through although I'm not too sure on their popularity. Willy Hutchison and obviously Lee McGregor. Josh Taylor as well. Ritson used to train up here with Nelson but moved on. Bakole is an honorary scot
