Joshua has 30 days to make a deal

Post by oogiebe »

According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, the IBF and WBO have both filed their paperwork for mandatories for AJ.

Joshua and Hearn have 30 days to make a deal, afterwhich, purse bids can be called or he could be stripped. The more likely would be one of them (Usyk or Pulev) to take step aside money.

Maybe Usyk takes the cash and goes forward with a fight with Chis. Maybe Usyk takes advantage of the situation and demands huge dollars and forces AJ to get stripped in order to get one of the titles for himself in an easier matchup stylistically than AJ. (Parker? Whyte?).

It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Whatever the situation we all know the power of choice belongs to AJ - the cash cow, hopefully HE DECIDE’s to fight a worthy opponent.

Fighting Pulev won’t be a fan favorite nor a big payday... so if he chooses to go that route then you know he’s playing it safe

The ibf will strip Josh same as anyone else. No chance of step aside there.

Well., on the other hand , what if he fights Kuby, vacates the WBO, Usyk then wins the vacant WBO, and then we get Josh vs Hw champ Usyk in a MASSIVE HEAVYWEIGHT UNIFICATION FIGHT ON SKY SPORTS BOX OFFICE?

It would be smarter to play it that way than to let Pulev fight Kownacki and possibly bring the IBF the PBC.

Ya one has a better chance of keeping things in house and then creating a biggish fight after, also gives some time for Usyk to get more HW cred

Or more likely he wants to keep the IBF belt because it is the first world heavyweight title that he won.

Anyone else think he might fight Pulev within the next 3 months and then face Usyk in the Summer?

I expect AJ will fight Pulev.

Will be interesting to see if Usyk takes step aside money or wants the WBO shot next...

Either way do think Usyk that the most logical fight for him should be Parker or sta busy fight beat up Chisora.

Have them both on the same card too sell it more later in 2020.

Yup. I think AJ may dump any belt/title that could force him to fight a dangerous opponent. He's the cash-cow and those belts need him. Usyk should step aside, take the money and then fight Chisora as a preparation fight to acclimate better at HW.

Usyk Vs Whyte for the vacant title and AJ to fight the winner. AJ fights Pulev first.

Seems like a rather strange motivation given that there much higher paydays out there and he has a whole collection of belts already . I suspect Hearn may be protecting him but who knows ? One things for certain... Pulev is no number one guy regardless of whatever the IBF or any other organization ranks him. I have him at about #10 and I’m struggling to keep him there

This will be AJ vs Pulev with Usyk on the undercard Shirley ?

Good for AJ to get another fight away from Ruiz 1, good for Usyk to get a decent test against a SHW and good for business, when both win handily.
Everybody wins.

pulev first whilst usyk continues to train and spar with bigger opponents .

he was poor last time out and will need a lot more against the naturally bigger boxers .

I like Usyk but just cant see him troubling AJ or Fury , not even Whyte . probably he would outpoint Wilder if didnt get tagged ..
