If he was any more patient he would've thrown no punches. It was a hardly do anything fest as it was. He hit air in part because of Fury's defensive abilities. Basically, he ran into a guy who could make him pay for doing so little, like an Ortiz who could last till the end. That's why I'm not really sure if giving away a bunch of rounds by doing little is really praiseworthy patience

I don't think he was, and he rolled with those punches. He never really ate anything full on, like he did vs Cunningham.
The right punch hardly landed clean and by the time the second shot came, Fury was already going backwards. Not like he walked into the punch or was in one place. He was constantly moving.

Don't forget the punchstats were pretty close. Part of Fury's survival tactics is not to engage. See: Wlad; Wilder I.

I know, but I mean how much more patience could he have shown? He would've been throwing like no punches and not winning any rounds, and Fury would prob still be there.

I don't think this 'patience' is really a good thing, I think Wilder usually wins in spite of it and it cost him a lost of rounds when he didn't win.

I don't disagree. I posted somewhere in the forum that Wilder's giving away rounds will lead to a loss if he doesn't correct it. His hubris on counting on the KO will be his undoing sooner or later.

He wasnt getting out of the way, he then smacked his head hard, out before he hit the deck.

Wilder by ko but I won't be betting 2 grand on it this time. I think wilders right was compromised the first time. Wouldn't be at all surprised if fury decisioned him.

Wilder vs. Fury 2 is ‘set in stone’ for February 22 in Vegas

“Like everything with Tyson Fury, everything is going to be spectacular,” said Arum to IFL TV about the announcement for the rematch between Wilder and Fury. “This is going to be like a circus. This promotion is going to be one of the greatest promotions in the history of boxing."

“So a lot of things are being planned, when the announcement is, and how it’s going to be done,” continued Arum in discussing the Wilder vs. Fury 2 rematch. “Where it’s going to be done, I’m not going to reveal it, because they’ll slit my throat if I do. I have to keep it under wraps. But with ESPN and Fox combining, they’re idea guys, and with the way they promote products, they’re something special."

“The American public are going to be seeing a lot of Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury,” Arum said. “I think that’s pretty good, That’s in stone,” said Arum when asked if Wilder will be defending against Fury on February 22. “That’s also sort of in stone, but that’ll be finalized This week,” Arum said when asked if the Wilder-Fury 2 fight will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. “The formal announcement will come in spectacular fashion that will go around the world,” said Arum.

Can’t wait for this one, Wilder has some real momentum when it comes to his power at the moment so I’d fancy him to stop Fury in the rematch, saying that Fury could be even fitter this time around and potentially win every round. :maybe:

Fury’s reflexes and defensive moves need to be on point to get through the fight. Is he getting old in there?

I fancy Deontay to get it done, but could also see fury lasting to the end (and therefore winning, obv)

You really think so? I'm still on the fence about the rematch. Can't stand Fury but also can't take away his ability to turn a fight into a borefest.
Wilder was so bad but still put him down very hard and got a draw. I think it's easier for him to do just a bit better than it is for Fury to be switched on again.

This time I want Wilder to yell BOOOOOOMB SQUUUUUAD after each KD :yay:
But, but, but... ?!
It was FURY that was bad - out of shape, out of practice no real fight in 3 years etc. etc. etc.
And Wilder was bad because Fury is befuddling like BHOP/X/The Alien - everyone has the worst performance of their career against him. Not a coincidence.
Why will Fury get worse for being fit, active and forewarned and why will TBB get better for (surely) being seduced by his own power ?

I think Wilder is full of confidence now. He knows he can always land something. He won't panic as the rounds tick by. He also won't be underestimating Fury.

I don't think Fury can perform as well again.

I think he will not swing this time. Instead he knows he will get a moment and he just has to pull the trigger.

You could feel that as Ortiz got more confident that his chances were diminishing.

The way to beat Wilder is to barely win each round...never go after him. Though I still feel he is brittle.

In a weird way I've found his fights starting to become anticlimactic. I'm enjoying the fight then it's bloody over. I prefer it when he has someone hurt and tries to finish them...and you're not sure if he will manage it or burn up too much energy,

The Ring Mag now have Fury at #1.. Wilder is #2..

Winner will be Ring Mag Champion..

TBRB have Wilder at #1 and Fury #2.. Not officially Lineal, but close enough.

I think we can agree though, Fury and Wilder are #1 and/or #2..

Unfortunately, Joshua 3 belts is just below them at this point.

As long as there is a big name, huge money making rival out there with other major titles and a claim to being champ it's not beneath them at all. AJ would be a huge win for either and by far their biggest money making chance, they need his belts for 'undisputed' too

The big lad will win all or nearly all the rounds whilst he's in there but he will go down again. It all depends on how heavily he goes down, if its a bad one like the 12th round he's staying asleep this time.

Wilder’s going to be in great shape. Will Fury?

The Fury story is a good one but boxing isn’t a sentimental business and time destroys all things. Fury deserved to win the first one but he’s stalled this rematch and it will be hard for him. He’s talented but flaky and we don’t know if he’ll come in the best shape and just rely on size and talent. Maybe the Schwartz fight will have kept him alert and put him on his game.

That said, I hope he wins.

Most likely Joshua will be the last man standing due to being the A side who can do what he wants and because he’s getting a great opportunity to correct most of his mistakes and bad habits. He’ll improve and fight one of these guys - at the right time - and deliver.

So, it's finally on officially, isn't it? That sounds great. I stick to my prediction, which was the same even prior to their first bout. Fury will outbox Wilder. The Gypsy King has far more ground for the development and making adjustments. Wilder just can't win a boxing match vs Fury and Deontay knows it. Wilder will just look for a one shot. And he had already landed it on Fury once, it didn't work. It won't work again, but this time it even will have less chances to happen.
