“We talked about it. Tevin wants the fight, Diaz wants the fight, (Farmer co-promoter) Eddie (Hearn) wants the fight. So do Golden Boy and DAZN,” DiBella said. “It’s a great match of styles. If we can’t make a unification fight, which doesn’t look good, Diaz is our No. 1 choice.”
Both fighters have frequently taken shots at one another on Twitter with Farmer explicitly stating that he wants to face Diaz in his next outing. DiBella says that if that fight gets finalized, it’ll likely be held in November.
Farmer (30-4-1, 6 KOs) is most recently coming off a dominant performance over Guillaume Frenois this past weekend to retain his world title, while Diaz (29-1, 15 KOs) most recently stopped Freddy Fonseca in May. Diaz has won three straight fights since dropping a unanimous decision to Gary Russell Jr. last year.

Junior lightweight world titlist Tevin Farmer, who turned 29 on Tuesday, and Joseph Diaz Jr., who have been calling each other out, could meet next. Farmer promoter Lou DiBella told ESPN that he and Diaz promoter Golden Boy opened discussions for the fight on Tuesday. 1 choice.” DiBella said if the deal gets made the fight would likely be in November. Farmer retained his belt for the fourth time via lopsided decision over Guillaume Frenois in the co-feature of Saturday’s Jose Ramirez-Maurice Hooker junior welterweight unification fight.
