This video seems to blame Lopez' lackluster showing against Nakatani on Teo's personal problems and lack of focus. (Might just be damage control for ESPN since they have been hyping him as the "next big thing.") I guess we'll have to see on Saturday night how focused he is for this world title shot.

Thinking about it too, fight with Beltran was for IBF title too. Comentator said at beginning of 1 round that Commey weighed 153 lbs and was heavier than Beltran. You can watch it too, maybe i misunderstood something because of my english :O

Oh yeh, you can’t weight more than 10 pounds at the morning weigh in, which is like 10 hours before the fight starts anyway.

With the same-day limit set for 145 pounds, Commey checked in at 144 pounds, while Lopez was 144.4 pounds, clearing the path for their highly anticipated title fight showdown Saturday evening at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

All the makings of a cracker - none of your one-sided 70/30 rubbish here!

Credit to both fighters for signing up. Not a Lopez fan, but he's one tough dude.

Really difficult to see the winner here, but I'm hoping Commey will have the class and skills to upset 'granpa Bob' and derail the planned Pacquiao showdown.

Might this even get close to Inoue - Donaire?

Not too long to find out.

Pac vs who?

Should be a good fight. The 3 fight card ain’t bad at all. Crawford always puts on a good show.

Lopez will destroy Commey. The African is tailor made for a quick, athletic hard puncher like Lopez.

Commey will come right at Lopez and get devoured. Hell, old Ray Beltran staggered Commey on several occasions. But he no longer had the reflexes to follow up.

That won't be a problem for Lopez. Commey can't go backwards or even move well laterally. When Lopez nails him he'll be frozen in one place like Ken Norton whenever he faced a puncher.

This fight reminds me of De La Hoya vs Ruelas. Both Ruelas and Commey are tough and rugged but easy fodder for more athletic, naturally gifted, heavy handed opponents.

Let's say Lopez in 3. You blink, you miss it.

That's what so good about this, it could end in 3 rounds - either way. Both men have that power.

Or it could be a hard 12 rounds for both.

Don't forget this is quite a step up for Teofimo Lopez, and also just what the roadwarrior Richard Commey has been through to get this far. Two tough men squaring off, neither with a hint of fear in their eyes, or their voices.

I'm guessing if Lopez wins uncle Bob will try to line up Pacquiao next (with Loma to follow). Unless he walks through Commey tonight, Loma next still looks like a step up too far too soon.

Watching the build up I get the feeling that Arum's starting to wonder whether he hasn't underestimated Richard Commey. A defeat for his Latin protege tonight would certainly put a spanner in the works to build a Canelo replacement in Lopez.

Bob Arum knows it.

I don't know why you feel that Arum would (can) line up Pacquiao for Lopez.

Pacquiao is no longer a Top Rank fighter and he's a welterweight. Lopez is only a lightweight.

Arum just said that the winner will get Lomachenko, maybe in April.

I still question whether Lopez would fight Loma that soon. Arum should milk at least a year out of Lopez as champion. Make the big fight even more marketable.

What's the rush with a youngster?

Coming up in minutes. I suspect that even when Lopez wins, plenty fans will still say they're not sold on him.

They'll probably point to Commey's age and say "So what? He's old."

That's how it usually works.

Depends on the performance but I’d be impressed with this win although I don’t know so much about both.
