Callum Johnson (18-1) and Igor Mikhalkin (23-2) will clash for the vacant EBU light heavyweight title on March 7 in Manchester on a Matchroom promotion - at least according to the EBU.
Mikhalkin won the IBO interim title in his last fight but was stripped of the belt when the "real" champ and Igor´s stablemate in EC Boxing, Sven Fornling, became fit for fight after an injury and then lost the title to Dominic Boesel.
As for Johnson, he came back after the loss to Artur Beterbiev with a good win over Sean Monaghan but in Mikhalkin, a very slick southpaw, he will have his hands full.

Why is Johnson so inactive. Only fights once a year. Surely his stock was as high as it’s ever been after the beterbiev loss. The concept of Strike whilst the irons hot seems completely lost in so many boxers.
