Sunny Edwards vs Marcel Braithwaite

For the vacant British Super Flyweight title on the Dubois/Fujimoto card on BT this weekend, good to see Edwards get a crack at a title, a fight with Commonwealth champ Tommy Frank never came off as they didn't want it apparently, after good wins over Farrag and Granados he's had to make do with a few unknown guys, never heard of Braithwaite but his only loss was to Fidoe who he already beat, Edwards has a win over Fidoe himself


I like Edwards very good boxer, effective switch hitter, only things is he lacks pop on his punches but if he starts to sit down on his shots he might break people down over the longer distance, if he wins here then hopefully a British/Commonwealth unification with Frank comes off

Quite like Sunny Edwards. Can't stick his brother. Can't remember if i've seen Braithwaite fight tbh? Decent test for Edwards, on paper at least. Pity the Frank fight couldn't be made, though i'd fancy Edwards heavily in that one.

Braithwaite never boxed anyone with a winning record lost against a journeyman with a 10-48 record. facing Edwards. It should be a one-sided fight.

117-110 Edwards for me, apart from getting reckless and decked in the 7th it was a fairly comfortable night for him, if unspectacular, lovely knockdown from Braithwaite, right then a left, took full advantage of Edwards mistake, Braithwaite was a bit herky jerky and held too much for my liking, I'd have took a point off, either way it did stop Edwards from getting into any sort of groove, he had to rely on single shots, mainly the lead right hand and occasionally the left hook or body, never seen him switch at all and it was Braithwaite who switched a few times

Braithwaite seemed to lose all hope after scoring the KD, not that he was winning anyway but he looked like he stopped trying to unsettle Edwards and Sunny pulled away without much drama, pretty easy win in the end for him
