Julio Cesar Martinez vs Cristofer Rosales

Post by handsofstone »

For the vacant WBC Flyweight title on the Jacobs/Chavez Jr card tonight(Friday) on Sky, both former champs although Martinez must have the shortest reign in boxing history, he was champ for about 5 minutes after stopping Edwards with a shot when he was down, it was a bit suspect how the WBC changed the result to a NC in the ring afterwards but it was the right call and ive no sympathy for Martinez he was beating Edwards up and there was no need to hit him when he was down

Rosales obviously lost the title to Edwards in the first place, deservedly so but the scores were harsh on him, I like the look of Martinez he's a monster, spiteful body puncher as Edwards and Selby found out, Rosales is durable but I can see Martinez stopping him here late on

I reckon Martinez can become a bit of a name down at the lower weights

Martinez must be a colossal favourite in this one. The WBC like wheeling out Rosales
for this title.

Martinez is one bad little dude....Selby, Edwards, and Rosales are a pretty solid trio to have all battered. The thing I like bout Marty, is even though he looks crude, he has a real good ability to punch effectively on the move without setting his feet, which a lot of sluggers lack against mobile opponents. That's how he was able to batter movers like Selbs and Edwards, and not be outboxed by Cris like Higa was.

Is Higa still at this weight or moved up?

Martinez is a beast, just brings relentless pressure and it was a tough night for Rosales, he took his lumps, I thought the stoppage was a bit premature at first glance, Rosales looked to gave weathered the worst of it but in all honsesty I cant hqve too many gripes, Rosales is a tough fecker, he took a lot of punishment in there and got through with the odd decent shot, he was probably too tough for his own good, maybe he would've been better to have kept things long but easier said than done against a force like Martinez

I'm a fan of Martinez, always been impressed when ive seen him and he's stopping some capable guys, never stops coming forward and throws quality accurate punches, he never worked the body as much as I thought he would but did land some nice work downstairs, he head shots were class though, real hurtful looking punches, busted Rosales up good, he doesn't care much for whats coming back, as I say he's a force

Higa’s ban is up very soon. Think I heard he’s jumping two weights to bantam actually. But to say he was outboxed by Rosales is a stretch, he was a ghost of himself in there.

Martinez is an animal. Cos he’s so fearless he’s always got his weight right down low so he can bang at any time anywhere like you said.

Was a top fight. Martínez's legs buckled in the second, which was one of the rounds of the year in my opinion. Can't wait for his next fight.

Maybe or hopefully we’ll get to see him leather Charlie Edwards again one day - and see the best down to the end this time.

Just had chance to watch this one, Martinez is a very dangerous fighter. Looks great when he takes that left hook upstairs then returns to the body, some absolutely sickening shots Rosales took in there (tough, tough man). Round 2 in particular was epic.
