Andy Lee

Post by MasterG »

It has been confirmed that Andy Lee will be part of Tyson Fury's training team.

What does he bring? Thoughts?

Yes, I think it's safe to say he will definitely bring thoughts.

Someone said he’s Fury’s cousin and brokered the deal on Sat night.

He always struck me as a switched on young man. He's been there too from his own ring career and he's ex-Kronk. Fury will feel good with him around as well so it makes sense to me.

Lee has played it down in the past when mentioned but I'm sure they are related in some way.

Lee knows his stuff and has Fury's trust.
I don't think he is being given a proper role, just to help out and for someone for Tyson to talk to without any bullshit.

1st cousins, I reckon he looks like Hughie.

Edit: after a quick google it turns out their grandmothers were sisters making them second cousins.

I've just read Tyson's book and he mentions Andy Lee fairly frequently.

Refers to him as his cousin, mentions him in the highest regard and on many occasions gives examples of Tyson following Lee's advice.

Clearly a lot of respect for him.

So would that make bjs and Andy lee distance relatives? Or are bjs and fury not related?

Don't think BJS and Fury are related. Saunders is Roma, Fury is Irish.

The best advice he could give Tyson is not to fight Wilder the way he fought BJS,

Fury is part Romany too (Hosea Burton is another cousin). But I don’t think he’s related to Saunders.

Gotta lot of time for Lee, the night he blitzed Korobov to become world champ is one of my most enjoyable nights as a boxing fan l, up there with Burns/Maritnez, Barker/Geale and of course Maidana/Broner

I haven't forgotten his shocking scorecard in the Ryder Smith fight. He lost all credibility as a pundit with that

Aye that was a bit disappointing, in saying that its easy to slate Sky commentary for being on the payroll, maybe Lee just genuinely had a poor night, lord know ive had a few myself

i think lee brings a calmness , if you ever listen to him talk he loves boxing, and has a if your not 100 percent in ,fornicate off , he has been training young paddy donovan who is coming on and jason quigley who he started training after he had lost while with ingle , think lee said start making a mark now or fade so he dont hold back , i like lee he has them leadership quailties , i think tyson will be looking to line up a big counter shot in the fight

Lee's scoring might've been off in the Ryder fight but having heard his analysis for a years now he is a calm head who knows the sport. Often makes good points that make you think or tell you something you didn't know or hadn't considered. That's proper insight, what an experienced pundit is there to do IMO.
