Gervonta Davis vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa - December 28, 2019
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa - December 28, 2019
Did Gamboa even get on the scale ?
Love the hype but whoever is coordinating it needs to check themselves and get current.

Gervonta Davis, who was initially 136.2 pounds, returned to the scale and was 134.8 so he will indeed fight for a vacant secondary belt vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa on Saturday night (Showtime) in Atlanta. However, as far as the Georgia commission is concerned he didn't make weight and was fined for it and for being late for the original weigh-in. The commission was not involved in the re-weigh. That was handled by the WBA (at same location and same scale) with Gamboa team present and he made weight.

Why isn't this fight listed on the fight pick thread?

No shit, also not like Floyd didn't fight the best the sport had to offer for 15 years. Bizarre post.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa - December 28, 2019
So it's the hardcore that wanted to him lose?
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa - December 28, 2019
I think the majority of the casuals and hardcore fans wanted Floyd to lose. Floyd at least had the hardcore fan's respect for his ability. Not many liked Floyd out of the ring, including myself.
Like it or not, at least in the U.S. there are millions of racist fans still. A black guy with a big mouth will be hated by many. Wilder is that guy right now. Ali proved it in the 60's and 70's when he was one of the most hated athletes, and was also the most recognizable athlete int he world. He had a big mouth and was black, and avoided the draft after turning Muslim. It wasn't until he retired he was loved or at least respected by most.

I can't comment on race relations in America, but what you said is quite shocking.
But in contrast to that, the picture Ali's biographer seems to paint isn't quite so clear cut
