Pascal is a very lucrative fight for Canelo atm. It doesn't matter if Pascal got beat by Kovalev.
And why wouldn’t the commercial demand to see any potential bout between Canelo and Pascal not be adversely affected by Jean’s two one-sided stoppage defeats to Sergey Kovalev?
Don’t just make bold claims, provide some sort of explanation to justify the reason why you personally believe them to be true!![]()
Canelo vs Jean Pascal ? 37y/o Pascal may look so appealing for Canelo!

Isn’t Pascal low risk-low reward, with the main emphasis on “low reward”?apollo creed wrote: ↑31 Dec 2019, 05:02It's all about the risk and reward. Pascal is an entertaining fighter with a good profile and also the wba lhw champion.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑30 Dec 2019, 22:11

Canelo has just vacated a world title at 175lbs that is far superior than the WBA’s regular title held by Pascal.
Pascal’s resume isn’t particularly impressive, with far too many losses on his record, including those one-sided stoppage defeats to Krusher.
And Pascal’s viewership and revenue generation figures aren’t that great either.
Who knows what the future holds and perhaps you’ll ultimately be proven right, but I honestly cannot see any reason why Canelo would even bother considering facing Pascal.

That's because Pascal fought one of the best fighters out there. Pascal wasn't dodging or ducking nobody!
Yeah right. So Callum, BJS or Andrade 'figures' are greater ?

Ok... yes.. Pascal would be a “good” win for Canelo. But I really think there are better fights out there for him...apollo creed wrote: ↑31 Dec 2019, 04:58Pascal is a real veteran warrior and a big name. At 37 y/o Pascal would beat the poo out of Callum. You can't compare the opponents that Pascal has been facing in his career with the former opponents of Callum Smith. Ryder beat Callum. Enough said.drunkenpiper36 wrote: ↑30 Dec 2019, 17:06
I think he’d get a bit more criticism for taking on a 37 year old man who’s been beaten 6 times, has minimal power and indecisively won his last fight ;)
Re: Canelo vs Jean Pascal ? 37y/o Pascal may look so appealing for Canelo!
Pascal’s a warrior. He’s been in numerous classics win or lose, comparable to the classic early ‘80s wars. Don’t need to list them. He can be a mess, with disappointing showings. And he can spring genuine surprises, due to heart, awkwardness & experience. I wish him the best & can see rematches with Jack & Browne closing out one hell of a career.
Not sure he represents a big fight for a Canelo, however. Also Alvarez doesn’t look comfortable at 175, the extra weight made him sluggish and I felt the size of his opponent gave him problems. Believe Canelo will gun for the Ring/lineal champ at 168, Smith. Smith had problems in his last fight which may lead Alvarez to see him as an easy mark. (Alvarez won a questionable title vs Fielding.) Or even, go back down to 160 for an easy cash in vs a rising in weight Munguia.

Yup. Most probably.
Tbh for me Canelo vs Pascal@175lbs would be a very intriguing match up and a wishful fight mostly b/c of Pascal's style of fighting, strength, toughness and explosiveness even at his age. A better fight than Canelo vs Callum, BJS, or Andrade.

They could sell it off name recognition.
Pascal has a name, old now but they could do it and use it as filler in hype fight easily.

I’d definitely watch it. Especially with Pascal’s resilience. I don’t think he’d flop like his old conqueror Kovalev did, vs Alvarez.
Re: Canelo vs Jean Pascal ? 37y/o Pascal may look so appealing for Canelo!
Certainly Callum was not flattered by his last fight, vs Ryder. A good one, which I enjoyed at the venue a great deal. Fighting a southpaw, who did his homework may have made a good and improving fighter, Smith, look really bad.apollo creed wrote: ↑01 Jan 2020, 06:55Yup. Canelo certainly weighs up risks and rewards. Little chance he’d come to the U.K. to fight in a stadium, for example. Yet, he may see Smith, perhaps wrongly, as an easy win, like Rocky Fielding (Fielding was destroyed by Smith, yet beat Ryder) or Liam Smith.
I doubt Canelo fights at 175 again. I can easily see him coming down to 160 and Munguia coming up to 160 for an all Mexico cash in. And he’ll almost certainly look for the biggest fight at 168 where he looks physically imposing & will be more comfortable at this stage making weight.

He could drag Pacal at 168 lbs but that would be a poor match up imo.lol Anyway Callum, Munguia and GGG III are most probably on Canelo's radar.Autobarn wrote: ↑01 Jan 2020, 07:02Certainly Callum was not flattered by his last fight, vs Ryder. An interesting fight that I'd salivate to see it is Canelo vs Benavidez at 168 lbs!
