Manny Pacquiao 2009 vs 2019

Post by Cent0089 »

Many of boxing fans was suprised when 40 years old Manny was able to defeat Keith Thurman. If you compare Pacquiao from 2009 and 2019, which of his boxing skills has been faded most? ANd on the other side, which of his boxing skills was he able to maintain ? (sorry for my english:D )

He's a smarter fight now and much more economical. I always thought he had good (not great) defense, but now that he's more focused on defense I think he gets hit less than he did in his prime.

What he lacks now compared to 2000 is his ability to fire off those crazy combinations and fight for the entire 3 minutes of each round. Now he fights more like a minute or 30 seconds of each round and normally at the end of a round. I believe his footwork is a little slower now than it was before and he doesn't use as many angles, but I also believe hes smarter with his footwork in order to reserve energy.

He still carries around the same power and can still put together some nice combinations. Although he doesn't seem as devastating now based on not landing as much. He was never a huge puncher at 147, he wore his opponents down with accumulation.

That's my take.

That was my first thought too. There was no random testing for the Thurman fight either was there? If not, it may explain his performance that seemed above expectations. I guess we'll see in his next fight if there is any difference.

- Expectorated you two low testosterone producing lardass misanthropes to be exchanging your fecal matter soon enough for your love story.

Manny and Keith both assigned VADA ID#s in their CBP enrollment.

By the way, isn't Pac now the only boxer to hold titles in four decades?
