Poll: Can best Tony Yoka become a top 3 heavyweight ?
I used to be very high on tony yoka potential.
He will turn 28 age in April, and people just know him because ge was given Olympic gold medal.
I follow his facebook page closely, he seems living the joy life of normal person and doesn't give high important to his boxing career. I think he needs to move to USA and be under control of american training camp.
I think no one will take him serious if he don't bring hinself into picture before turning age 30, because of marketing reasons. Sorry for my poor english.

Re: Poll: Can best Tony Yoka become a top 3 heavyweight ?
For the moment he have been looking solid, but not special, and his pro-career is stagnant. He's not very active and he didn't have challeging fights. When you're staying at the single level, you'll eventually decline. There're guys out there, who seem to be far more special. Right now he's not going to be a top-3 or top-5 fighter. Around top-10 seems more real.
Re: Poll: Can best Tony Yoka become a top 3 heavyweight ?
Mostly because of his lack of activity which I assume is due to poor management and promotion. Top 11? Maybe, but my response was more of a statement of his current development, or lack thereof. He has fallen behind, much like Dychko.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑01 Jan 2020, 13:50Really? You think that little of him? You follow the heavies far more than I do but I don't know that I'd pick 11 of those slobs to beat him now.
Re: Poll: Can best Tony Yoka become a top 3 heavyweight ?
He would still beat Ruiz Jr
Re: Poll: Can best Tony Yoka become a top 3 heavyweight ?
He needs a real test, that is it.

Didn't he get a ped suspension? Anyway, I was just asking. Top 11 at heavy is pretty slim.oogiebe wrote: ↑01 Jan 2020, 14:00Mostly because of his lack of activity which I assume is due to poor management and promotion. Top 11? I think he got the suspension for missing a test, not actually failing one.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑01 Jan 2020, 14:08Didn't he get a ped suspension? Anyway, I was just asking. Top 11 at heavy is pretty slim.
Regarding top 11, I consider those 'other' prospects who are rising up the rankings as well. Dubs; Hrg; Makhmudov; Efe; Vianello; et al.

Yeah, he better and not just go being a new Brian Nielsen and being sort of a contender and fighting leftovers from the 80s in his hometown.
Re: Poll: Can best Tony Yoka become a top 3 heavyweight ?
LOL! Yeah! Talk about a pumped up record.
Re: Poll: Can best Tony Yoka become a top 3 heavyweight ?
At least Yoka is fighting guys who at least have a pulse. But, yeah lets hope he gets some more fights next year. So far, it is looking good, accept for having problems with his local commission or whatever. But, I would love a rematch between him and Joyce for the European strap or something.
Lets hope that they make more moves and get him in deepwaters the coming year. He got the goods for going in to the top 10. But, lets see what happens.

Yoka doesn't want to fight Joy joyce, he claims have beaten joyce 3 times in amateur.
Seems to me Yoka is so full of himself having won gold medal in Olympic. Anyhow is he ranked top 3 HW in France as of today, behind both carlos Takam and Johann Duhapas
Re: Poll: Can best Tony Yoka become a top 3 heavyweight ?
I don't care. Joyce has like 10 fights and has gotten futher then Yoka at this time. And saw that they have fought 3 times and it is 2-1 for Yoka.Boxtune wrote: ↑01 Jan 2020, 14:38Paci wrote: ↑01 Jan 2020, 14:27

So he should fight them or fight a real gatekeeper for a crack at the top 10. Lets see what Yoka does the coming year. Im going with a soild rating in TRBR or The Ring this coming year.
Or he should just fight Chisora next time out.

The question has too many possible answers to offer a reply. Ask an imprecise question and you will get an imprecise answer.

Yoka does not have the money behind him to get the better opponents, and outside his home, he doesn't have the fan base to garner that money on his own. How he would deal with the better ones is up for grabs really. I would like to think he has the potential to beat the likes of Whyte, Joyce, Pulev - the slower guys- and get eaten for breakfast by the likes of Usyk, Parker, Kownacki, AJ/Fury/Wilder
Re: Poll: Can best Tony Yoka become a top 3 heavyweight ?
Thanks! I get lucky now and then. Yoka's best move for 2020 is moving to a big name promoter. He's limited though.KiwiRider wrote: ↑01 Jan 2020, 16:00Nailed it right there Oggie![]()

Yoka is not limited, but has been kept limited and he seems to be happy with what he achieved already because of low expectation from people around him.oogiebe wrote: ↑01 Jan 2020, 16:05Thanks! Re: Poll: Can best Tony Yoka become a top 3 heavyweight ?
I think Matchroom is best for him, they have the right kind of step-up guys in their stable. Yoka is the type of guy who is probably going to win fans by his fights. Personality wise, well... He just dosent have a lot of charisma.oogiebe wrote: ↑01 Jan 2020, 16:05Thanks! I get lucky now and then. Yoka's best move for 2020 is moving to a big name promoter.
