Anthony Joshua Could See 14 or 15 Fights Left in Career

IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (23-1, 21 KOs) is not planning to retire any time soon.

The 30-year-old boxer is planning to continue his career for years to come.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Joshua revealed that he believes his career has at least 14 to 15 fights left.

“14, 15. That would take me to 35, 40 fights maybe," Joshua told Sky Sports.

Joshua returned to the ring last month and reclaimed his four titles with a dominant twelve round unanimous decision over Andy Ruiz in Saudi Arabia. The bout was a rematch of their June 2019 showdown, which saw Joshua get dropped four times and finally stopped in the seventh.

Next up for Joshua is a mandatory defense - likely against the IBF's top rated challenger, Kubrat Pulev of Bulgaria.

The main goal for the British superstar is to secure a unification against the winner of next month's rematch between WBC world champion Deontay Wilder and challenger Tyson Fury. They initially fought in December 2018, with the contest ending in a controversial twelve round split draw.

Joshua recently backed Fury to win the bout - because he believes a deal with his countryman would be much easier to reach than it would be against Wilder.

“The reason why I thought about it and why it came to fruition for me is because I feel like if Fury was to win that fight [against Wilder] I think he’d be more inclined to fight me next and quicker, than Wilder would,” Joshua told IFL TV.

“How long I’ve been waiting to fight for the championship belt, I think if Fury had it, me and him would have got a deal done. That’s why I was rooting for Fury to win because I just want to fight and collect my last belt. If I was a betting man, I think Fury wins."

I don't like when boxers say they have this much time left, when it's 15 fights!! or 10 years!

If they're saying maybe 2-3 fights then fair enough.

I remember around the Parker fight. He said he would fight until 38, so around 10 years more.

Really since then, he's fought 3 times. So for him to now say he has around 14/15 fights left, same shiit really.

He fights twice a year? you're looking at 7-8 years more.. By then, he'll nbe 38 anyway.

Or who knows, he may have a career-ending injury? Plus, he's made enough to live a nice life and for his kids/grandkids.

Well he seems pretty solidly locked into no more than 2 fights a year, so this would be 7-8 years., which would bring him to a pretty normal age of retirement for a HW
