In fairness I'm guessing they could launch whenever they want but the UK arm would be restricted in what it could show as far as football and boxing etc.?

From what I understand, the pricing structure for rights to UK fights makes their business model tricky, certainly at the fees they currently charge in other territories.

Youd imagine though that there's scope for them to have some lower margin shows and PPVs. Though of course I'm sure there's quite a few moving parts where rights and distribution. Are concerned.

Agree with you on Eddie. Matchroom's boxing deal with SKY ends in 6 months. SKY have all the Matchroom content tied down but the boxing comes under a separate contract.

Pretty sure Boxing is tied to 2022 ?

They bid for Champions League/Europa League - but BT won 3 year deal - that might have been catalyst for starting with major capture. They will need something like that to come to the UK.

Without wishing to state the blindingly obvious, the thing I really loved about B0nation was receiving boxing, and boxing alone (apart from the very odd MMA rubbish).

I won't pay the subscriptions being asked by Sky,BT etc for sports I have no interest in watching. The concept of a dedicated boxing channel was a dream come true.

Do people think there is room for a new boxing broadcaster in the UK?

B0xnati0n is dead, nobody is picking up Top Rank shows and PBC on ITV has flopped. Surely there is room for a service, even if streaming only, that could pick up the rights to PBC, Top Rank, Russian, German, Mexican and Canadian shows fairly cheaply to provide boxing fans weekly live content for around a tenner?

We've had it so good for years. It feels foreign to me that so many shows are going untelevised.

We've had it so good for years. It feels foreign to me that so many shows are going untelevised.

There is certainly a place in the market, but it would need to be run very differently to how allegedly was. Leaving shows to the last moment to announce might have been cheaper but killed any viewing numbers. They need long term contracts in place for content, they need to be able to give a 2-3 month schedule, and either use shoulder programming to build help sell what they do or think outside the box...
... And of course it'll take a big cash injection... And that's the issue.

They are probably better off going to 2 or 3 promoters in Japan, Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Thailand, Philippines, Russia and Canada, setting up a global network with promoters and running the Channel as a hub for them. Via a mix of live and tape delay content. Use it as a n advertising platform for the fighters, and all work together to build it...

Premier Sports will be actively looking to increase live content on BoNation with discussions underway to secure long term output agreements with PBC, Top Rank and Golden Boy along with a number of small hall UK promoters.

From early February, Boxation will be available free of charge to current Premier Sports customers on Sky, Virgin TV and the Premier Player. Customers subscribed to allegedly via Sky and Virgin TV will automatically get free access to Premier Sports 1, 2 and LaLigaTV.

Boxation will remain part of BT Sport’s channel pack and available to all BT Sport customers who subscribe via the Sky platform, this package will not give current customers access to Premier Sports channels.

Premier Sports annual pass on SKY is £120. Might sign up for this. Premier Sports confirmed once the channels are bundled in February all the live fights will be shown in HD on Premier Sports. As a Scot I'm interested in the fact Premier Sports now have the TV rights to the Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup for the next 5 years plus they are launching a dedicated LaLiga channel next week showing every Spanish game live every week.

Lads, excuse my stupidity but I’m abit confused regarding Box Ntion. I used to subscribe to it from day 1 but cancelled it a couple months back because I have BT Sports pack HD which I watch on Sky but pay to BT on my bill.

Should I still be getting access to Box Ntion due to my BT HD Sports Pack? And would it still apply in the future to the Premier Sports deal that is happening, without having to pay anything extra based on what I currently have? Box Ntion channel currently says I’m not subscribed, so it’s a little confusing.
