Joe Ward Update?

Post by TheLeprechaun »

Hopefully his career isn't over before it started. It looked like a gruesome injury and he's had surgery I believe. Your knee is never 100% after an injury like that. I thought the way he was moving before the injury looked a bit odd, like he's had problems with that knee before?

Edit never mind, strange article lol

Last I heard his team was applying the result for his last fight, and that it should've been a no contest instead of a loss

It looks like Lou Di Bella made a bad investment. I'd be selling my stock on Ward if I was him but it looks like hes standing by him.

Heralded light heavyweight prospect Joe Ward, a 2016 Irish Olympian, is scheduled to have surgery on his injured left knee on Friday in New York, co-promoter Lou DiBella told ESPN on Wednesday night.

"The surgery will take care of this," DiBella said. "His knee will be stabilized and he should be good as new. His spirits are OK but they'll be better if the New York commission changes the result to a no contest."

Give him a chance. Why wouldn’t he come through this, he‘s a young bloke and he‘ll be well looked after.

Possible he had an inherent weakness due to physiognomy which can be corrected by surgery. If you've got the money there's a lot of highly advanced musculoskeletal surgeries available now.

Ward has bundles of talent and is still young enough to do something. He is known for enjoying the party lifestyle but I was there the two times he beat Kenny Egan in the Irish Senior Finals and you could tell he was a special talent.

Di Bella is not stupid, he'll hold on to him and try to rebuild to at least try and recoup some coin in a cash out attempt.

Oh ya, he for sure deserves a chance, but knee injuries are a serious thing and not a good sign at all for the knee to blow like that straight off the bat

I think it's clear hes got problems with the knee even before the injury has happened. Or he has adaped his footwork as a result of a bad knee. He just moves in an odd way on his back leg. Am I the only one seeing this?

True, lots can be done nowadays and Joe's career could well be saved but what happens in 10 years time when his career is over and he's still a young man. Too much pressure on an already damaged knee could result in permanent damage

Makes me feel sick the way that knee popped. Bad BAD way.

I hope it is not another Glazkov kind of situation.

Looks like he fighting in central America while the pandemic is happening. Hopefully gets a few more quick wins and most importantly avoids a repeat of that injury :bag:
