In the real world LSC moved up to win a world title at the 4th different weight and has defended it 3 times, whilst
Warrington spoke of fighting in Vegas but instead chose to box no.118 in the world in his hometown.

Lol, the funny thing about that is that the guy LSC beat to win that 4th title was ranked 137 by BoxRec at the time of the fight and only jumped up the rankings after the match because of how close the scores were. Plus if BoxRec rankings mean so much, take a look at the 126 #1 in the world :OhYes:

Leo hasn't made any defenses of the new title btw, he just got it. In the last 2 years he's fought Chris Avalos, Mares again, Rafael Rivera, and Mr. 137. Warr has fought Selby, Frampton, Galahad, Mr. 118, and Ceylan.

Plus I mean, if Josh really is some shameful, not very good fighter deserving nothing but negative commentary, it just makes it look worse to guys who couldn't beat him and especially those who were were too reluctant to throw punches..

Santa Cruz has won world titles at 4 different weights and regularly fights in Vegas.
Warrington spoke of fighting in Vegas. After a hometown gift against Galahad he daren't fight outside Leeds.

Wouldn't call it a gift. It was an absolute crap fight to score. Wasn't it a split decision? Wouldn't call it a hometown gift either. Both are from Yorkshire, UK. Would have been the same result anywhere with them same 3 judges.

Sorry bud but you won’t convince me LSC has fought better fighters the last few years than Warrington. I like Leo and feel bad for criticising him like that now, though.

Thing is, myself, and others on here have repeatedly underestimated Warrington.
Maybe this time we don't underestimate him, and get bitten on the arse for it

Spent some time with Bob Arum late Friday afternoon in Atlantic City. He said he met with James Prince, Shakur Stevenson's co-manager, on Wednesday and the plan they worked out will be for Stevenson to make his first featherweight title defense against Miguel Marriaga on March 14 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden on ESPN and then, if he wins, unify with Josh Warrington in May or June. Arum said date depends on Warrington promoter allegedly securing the stadium in Leeds, England.

Stevenson was calling out Warrington, the IBF champion, long before he won his world title. But when offered the chance for the fight to take place on May 16 at Elland Road, the home ground of Leeds United, Stevenson chose the other option of facing former Vassily Lomachenko victim Miguel Marriaga at the Madison Square Garden Theater on March 14.

“It’s at an impasse,” allegedly, Warrington’s promoter, said when asked about the prospects of the fight still going ahead. “He chose another fight.”

If Stevenson believes the fight could just be salvaged for another date, he could be disappointed, as ticket sales played a significant part in making the fight viable and Elland Road is unlikely to be available again until next year.

A combination of the expected Anthony Joshua-Kubrat Pulev fight and the European Football Championships effectively make another pay-per-view in June early July unlikely, while Leeds United are on target for their first return to the Premier League since. That season would kick-off on August 8 and the club would not risk any damage to the pitch in the weeks up to that.

The fight at Elland Road could draw a potential crowd of 30,000, while the First Direct Arena has a capacity of only 13,000.

All of which could have Warrington looking elsewhere for a unification fight.

Dissapointing Stevenson declined the fight however i don't blame fighters for swerving coming over here nowadays. The judging is ridiculous. Pity Michael Conlan hasn't stepped up his level of opposition. Him vs Warrington would've been a good event over here or Belfast.

Yeah I think the problem is which I myself have been guilty of in the past is judging a fighter aesthetically and assuming they’re technically inferior because they don’t look as smooth as others, also to remember that often when a fighter is second best in some areas that the world class ones often make up for it massively in other areas, Warrington has a real engine on him, a fantastic workrate, a good chin, great attitude/mentality and is strong as an ox, that’s a pretty good combination of plus points to have alongside big/world title fight experience, I think the featherweight division should fear Warrington more than he should fear anyone in its top ten.

Ah yeah, just seen the post from Matchroom :TU: doesn't help the matchmaking with regards to unifications with the other champions at featherweight mind, maybe it will be Galahad 2 next after all.

Think the Stevenson fight is out of the window in terms of being next. Hearn will have laid out a sizable signing bonus and will want to recoup some of that first.

A slight shock, although I thought Eddie was saying "josh this, josh that" over the weekend so it did get me thinking.

Frank W did alright with Josh but this is a huge blow, his domestic stable is looking pretty poor - you can hardly call Fury domestic anymore.

Think the loser of Warrington vs Galahad 2 will probably move up (or possibly down in Galahad's case).

With Fury (basically Top Rank) and Frampton (similar) if Dubois loses he’s in big trouble. BJS has gone....Warrington gone.....

Fury PPV and Dubois PPV is sole offering on BT until mid April.
