Taylor will be extremely well known in Edinburgh.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑02 Jan 2020, 17:26 It just sounds to me like he doesn't take his drink too well, and he's feeling aggrieved that he's not more famous in his own ends. Rather than small-man syndrome (as others have said — he's average-sized), I imagine he's thinking “I could smash the lot of yous. If you knew who I am you'd show me respect”. But to the average doorman who watches UFC and not boxing, he's another common or garden prick.
My main takeaway is that boxers aren't as renowned as they used to be.

I was at a game where he spat on a Gers scarf someone had dropped. He fuckin hates us and it seeps outta him. Meant to be a nice guy away from football so i've been told.liamlion wrote: ↑02 Jan 2020, 12:43It’s a derogatory terms for a Protestant as in orange order. The funny thing is I worked on the door for years in Swansea and got more abuse than you can imagine. Being small for a doorman and being English those were the main insults thrown at me!
My colleagues on the other hand all got abused too, steroid head, fat, ugly, pretty boy, valleys boy. Moreover there were a couple who hit the sunbeds hard who had a lot of abuse for being orange!!
You realise quite quickly that a drunk/drugged up fella chucks the first insult that comes into his head and it means little.
Of course these days particular insults can put you in legal problems.
I remember once years back a right div of a bouncer wouldn't let me in a pub, then tried to play the hard man with me. I really wanted to fight him but he melted quickly so while still in need of releasing some adrenaline, he started chucked some racial insults at him(he was a black guy).
I later really beat myself up about it, still feel bad today to be honest, because I'm not at all racist so I really had let myself down. I wasn't even drunk, just angry, the fella deserved a dig, he was a div but I just came out with the first insults that came into my head and in doing so made a real c#nt of myself.
Same behaviour....

Fenians tend to. I’m one of them. I too hate everything that club stands for. Scotland’s shame. Plus youd know the bile he’s received over the years and he’s really only giving back what he receives in that video, however ill-advised his actions were.Stuarty wrote: ↑03 Jan 2020, 11:41I was at a game where he spat on a Gers scarf someone had dropped. The feelings mutual bro
Re: Josh Taylor Trouble
This reminds me of Pat Clinton fighting Perez way back in 91 or 92. He was training with Celtic and the Rangers fans were backing Perez.
Re: Josh Taylor Trouble
Yeah i know a lot of Gers fans who never cared for Harrison or Burns because of their footballing allegiances. It's never bothered me tbh. I was a fan of both and spent plenty of hard earned dough going to watch both over the years. It would be the same if a boxer came out as a diehard Gers man, a lot from the green half of the city would want to see him chinned lol. Just the way things are here unfortunately. That being said, i don't know why any sportsman would parade their belts or trophies at ibrox or Parkhead! You're potentially halving your fanbase lol...

Yeah, a few verbals and a bit of spite is harmless. Nothing too serious and hopefully the proper dark days have been left behind.

I've always hated the ridiculously tribal nature of football, the hating of opposing supporters over an arbitrary affiliation with a team, either through dint of birthplace, heredity, or simple choice.

The old firm is quite unique. Cultural and religious division that goes back centuries. The same feud was central to a civil war in Ireland for hundreds of years, where many people lost their lives as a consequence. It’s a rivalry that means a lot and there is nothing like it in England.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑03 Jan 2020, 17:13 I've always hated the ridiculously tribal nature of football, the hating of opposing supporters over an arbitrary affiliation with a team, either through dint of birthplace, heredity, or simple choice.

Same. I’ve never been able to understand it, I’m a big football fan but only care about my team, couldn’t give a toss about any other teams or how well they do.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑03 Jan 2020, 17:13 I've always hated the ridiculously tribal nature of football, the hating of opposing supporters over an arbitrary affiliation with a team, either through dint of birthplace, heredity, or simple choice.

To be fair, I think football has improved a fair bit. It used to be a lot less family friendly.

Hmmm, I do like to follow the careers of managers & players who’ve previously been at my club. Don’t much care how they get on though, just interested really.Noxy wrote: ↑03 Jan 2020, 18:01What about football managers?Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑03 Jan 2020, 17:44

I doubt that the tribal nature of football is any different from the tribal nature of politics or religion. Just us insecure people wanting meaning and a yearning to belong to something more than ourselves.

Must be due to announce his next opponent this month or next?
Re: Josh Taylor Trouble
That doesn't makes any sense though for him to racially abuse an Asian by calling them orange. I've never heard that one before
